This is rubbish! Even worse than originally not including TDTWATW on the complete series 7.

I suggest we all complain about this. And maybe. Just maybe. We can get it changed so that rather than have all the Christmas specials, we have the time of the doctor, the day of the doctor and an adventure in space and time.

If anyone has an email address of where to complain, i would really appreciate that. I would also appreciate it if everyone else would complain as well, as we all loose out on this.

North America is getting it as a stand alone 4th of march. I'm expecting we will get a stand alone eventually. All we got to do is wait. Mind you I only bother with the season sets so if it does or not doesn't really bother me.

Well I guess I will be putting my other Christmas specials on ebay as soon as this is released.

What have a series of posts about New Who Blu Rays got to do with Classic Series Who DVDs? (There is already a separate thread about Matt Smith Christmas specials.) They are not DVDs and in no sense of the word can they be described as classic.

Could you link to this thread please? (and also, i think it's because of the fact we only have a handful of classics this year it won't hurt to add the new who episodes to.)

Sorry, don't know how to link, but it's currently only 9 threads below this one.

Good news and bad news for me.

Good news - Not quite as expensive as originally hinted at (just short of £18) and doesn't include DOTD.

Bad news - includes all the other MS Christmas specials we all have already got. WHY???? Just to get another £6 out of each of us?

This way we all lose out. We all have to pay extra for things we already have. And those who deliberately held of buying DOTD expecting a 50th boxset of both will now have to buy both without all the extra 50th material they were expecting.

Obviously this was why they didn't originally intend putting TDTWATW on the last series boxset.

I don't know how many they usually sell, but for every 10,000 sales that's (potentially) an extra £60,000 they make. Even taking into account the extra pressings, they're on a good thing.”

O.k... that is weird. I hope that it doesn't happen this way in the U.S.A..

On an interesting note, my main Doctor Who watching group is now watching The Ice Warriors. Unfortunately, we will be hitting The Enemy of The World and The Web of Fear before they are released in the USA. That means that we will have to watch the reconstructions and then go back and re-watch them once we have finished with the other second Doctor stories before we move on to the third Doctor. (I am not complaining; I am very glad that they exist and that we will be able to go back someday and watch them. It is just funny that the timing will be so close to be directly watchable, but won't be; oh, well.)

I also want to say Merry Christmas, everybody! Y'all have a great time with your families and friends!

That sounds strange to me. Why spoil the stories by watching the reconstructions first? Or, if you want to maintain continuity to other stories why not just watch the first few minutes of the recon of Enemy and the last few minutes of the recon of Web? But anyway, Happy Christmas to you too!

Agreed, the classic DVD thread should remain Nu Who free

Because we want to keep the continuity of the show, we are watching everything in order. We don't want to skip them and then have to come back. So we will watch them and then have to come back. LOL!

While DVDs for Enemy and Web might not be available in the US, both serials HAVE been readily available on iTunes ever since their recovery was announced two months ago. If you've got a whole group of people watching Who together then surely at least one of you has an iTunes account and some means of playing iTunes video on a TV

Alas, no. We don't do iTunes. I am 45 and I highly prefer the physical embodiment of my media. LOL!

Thanks for the thought, though.

Thanks for this, got mine on pre-order now (first one with BBC shop) but where do get hold of the discount codes as I've seen them on here before?

I got mine as a flyer in the dvd of day of the doctor. I've sacked amazon after the TV programme, recent bad service etc. Found bbc shop to be much cheaper with the promo code so opened an account with them and pre ordered the 3 forthcoming dvd releases off them. Let's see if they are better than amazon.

i wonder if BBC will ever release "The Crusade" on DVD at some point, it only has 2 episode missing that could be animated, as far as im aware is is the only partly missing serial left with the least amount of episodes missing

not classic series”

I guess it could be classed as classic if it were to include AAISAT and an unearthly child 50th edition as rumored.

Interestingly dan hall mentioned in a recent radio skaro podcast that when he commisioned animation for reign 10th planet and moonbase back in may/june 2011 he was asked not to commission animation for crusade by his bosses at bbcww. My guess bosses weren't expecting sales to be high enough as crusade doesn't have any of the big selling points. Won't have the luxury of being an unreleased story (reign) or having monsters (10th planet/moonbase). It doesn't have the luxury of having an unreleased ep (underwater menace) either. Also its pretty well served on lost in time already.

I'd still be surprised if Crusade doesn't show up at some point - it's had a VHS release that (IIRC) sold pretty well, and unless the missing episode rumours prove to be true, it's the only other story they can release after Menace. Stopping the DVD range with literally one story to go seems like madness to me.

Does anyone know how Reign sold? Surely if it did well then they can't argue that animated historical stories aren't marketable...

If they are not going to animate web of fear 3 then they are not going to animate the crusade. It looks like going to be a boring year for the classic range, the moonbase, web of fear and underwater menace whenever that is ready then that's it. I almost equate it to the matt Smith doctor in time of the doctor, no hope, on the verge of death then the timelords send him regeneration energy through the crack in time. Maybe the bbc will in the same way breathe life into the classic range and reveal some more recovered episodes to be released on dvd.

Yeah, I agree with you. That is one of the reasons that I hope and pray that they find one more episode of Crusade, so that they will just about have to animate the final missing episode and then release it.

Oh, and by the way, Happy New Year!

The vhs of the crusade sold well because it was on the back of the recovery of episode one and it was also packaged with the space museum an unreleased story at the time. I wouldn't rule it out in the future but cannot see a crusade dvd release anytime soon.
