we have a indoor cat shes a year and 3 months old now..we got her free to good home,we got her microchipped and spayed and we have had her a good 7 months now..

what i would like to do is get another for her, a kind of playmate..whats best another female or male?.best way to introduce them? not gonna turn into some mad cat bloke lol..just 2 will be my permanent limit

theres always people in so no problems with cats being on their own all day only thing i would want is keeping the next cat indoors same as the one i have now.you hear all sorts about cats getting posioned as ive just read on here earlier

That's a great idea ! We used to have a mixture of girls and boys, personally I found they all got on well together didn't notice a difference with how they interacted. Although unless you get them neutered a boy will become a bit smelly indoors I would imagine.

We regularly introduced new cats over a period of 4 years we collected 5, they all just slotted in quite nicely, but we always brought in kittens not adults. I am not sure how adults would get on.

Some cats are solitary so it doesn't always pan out but then I think that's possibly down to how well the introductions are made. That has to be very slow in some cases.

I agree with Yeah_Jackie. As long as you don't try to force interaction between the two cats & take things slowly, thing should be fine.

I introduced first one new cat to my 13 year old grouchy old lady & then another within a 2 month period & fully expected her to go ballistic, but I did it slowly & now while occasionally she'll give the younger 2 rescue cats a clout when they irritate her, she protects them from the neighbourhood bully cats. (only she is allowed to smack *her* cats )
