Former EastEnders star Chris Parker, who played Spencer Moon, has threatened legal action against the Sun after it claimed he was sacked from the soap.
The BBC announced in November that the actor, who played the character until three weeks ago, had "agreed" to leave the soap.

The day following that announcement the Sun ran a story alleging he "got the boot after refusing to see the show's psychologist".

It was shortly after Parker attempted suicide, which he has since spoken about openly and graphically.

Parker's solicitor, Jonathan Coad, confirmed he had sent a letter to the Sun asking it to withdraw its allegation.

"I have written to tell them that they must apologise and retract or proceedings will be issued," Mr Coad said.

He said the newspaper had two weeks in which to respond to his client's request.

This is not the first time the actor has taken issue with the paper's coverage.

In November, Mr Coad warned the Sun not to intrude on his client's private life when it reported he had been rushed to hospital after attempting suicide.

Mr Coad sent a copy of that letter to the Press Complaints Commission, but he did not make a formal complaint.

hmmm. As much as Spencer irritated me I do think the Sun overstepped the mark when the reported his suicide. Most papers didn't I don't think- it was the only paper I saw it in (and on the front page). Still in regards to the stated proceedings regarding him being sacked it is a bit petty.

Urghh whatever, Chris Parker is such a prima donna anyway, who gives a shit whether he jumped or was pushed. Main thing is the awful Spencer is out of EastEnders for good. He on the other hand should go back to whatever he did before taking up acting, A he's not very good at it, B he can't handle the attention and C he's the biggest whiner for such a small time "Celeb" and I use the term Celeb loosely, very loosely lol

"His side" of the story in The Sun was lifted that from OK magazine, as I remember. I agree with Chris Parker...he should sue them.

Ah yes. Funny how an apology doesn't quite seem enough sometimes.

I'm with Liverpool Girl here the sun and other papers do go over the top sometimes people are allowed private lives. If he was gay that is his own business and no ones untill he says so.

Tell me about it, their attempt of apology ended up as more of a dig and was issued in a "get over it" style.

over a decade too late aswell

lol I should so work for a tabloid, I'm so heartless, but he should get over it. People have heard his very open and graphic side of it now. Let it go, I think he's just trying to keep his profile up.

Oh I am sorry

I really do think that he should get over it! Even if he does sue, nothing will come of it in the way that it has already happened! I too, think he is doing it to keep his profile up.

I completely agree Will - he just doesn't know when to keep his trap shut and move on. Why keep raking it up, thus causing the 'allegation' to be repeated - IMO he is either phenomenally stupid or desperate for more publicity.

You see, I hate the Sun, have for many years and after Hillsborough where a very close friend lost a family member I hated them even more, but...Chris Parker I just can't fathom up one shread of sympathy for him, I really should be able to, but my only thought is 'Oh just get lost and stop annoying me'. It's sort of like the Harrods Boss v The Hamilton's court case, Ian Hislop said something along the lines of 'can't they both lose'. It's sort of sums up my feelings toward The Sun and Chris Parker - can't they both just disappear.

I think its because he so adamantely denied it and caused such a fuss about it, people began to take notice and hte Sun or News Of The World continued running the stories. If were him, and I knew I wasn't gay, and I had a girlfriend and my family an friends all knew I wasn't gay, then I wouldn't even bother dignifying such a story. But him being the prat that he is and the big prima donna, drew attention to himself by bringing in lawyers to forums such as this and newspapers. He had his people actually on scanning the internet boards to see what was being said. I doubt the biggest of celebs could be arsed what an internet forum is saying about them, but if you're desperate to stay in the public eye, you'll do funny things lol

I get your point- please note I no longer want him in the limelight myself. Although my Mother seems to think he is adorable!

Dont really know what they said about him but, if they have lied, I make him right in sueing.

The media in this country gets away with absolute murder the way they lie and make up crap about peoples personal lives. Its about time someone made a stand against them

Thing is, the papers dont give a sh*t if what they print is true or not. Recently a memebr of a work collegues family sold a story to one of the major tabloids. Its was then reprinted in a downmarket magazine and they appeared on national tv because of it. At least half of the story was a pack of lies. My collegues son was so annoyed at what was being said, he actually phoned the paper, told them who he was and said 'these people are lying through their teeth to you to make a good story'. They guy at the paper said they couldnt care less, it sold papers.

Funny how his lawyer issues a letter telling the The Sun "not to intrude on his client's private life when it reported he had been rushed to hospital after attempting suicide. "

So what has Parker been doing???

Wasn't he on This Morning talking about it??? Selling his story to the press and mags???

The little prat should "sing from the same hymn sheet" ie... PRACTISE WHAT HE PREACHES, if he wants the media to shut up, then the little prick should shut up as well and disappear down some hole.

I cannot stand Chris Parker. I think the press have written far worse about other soap stars and they don't sue.

If he's appearing in one of the Countries top TV shows then he should know that this kind of coverage goes with the territory.

He's an arrogant little prick!
