Abbey has no previous dance experience, allegedly.

I have a sneaking feeling that as the next couple of weeks unfold, Sophie will replace Abbey as the contender. Simply because Sophie has more slow dances to come where Abbey has the fast ones. Plus we know from last week Sophie has voter support.

No he doesn't.

And saying that so nastily and not even remembering who Artem was partnering?

Man's a nasty fool. He's made assumptions that aren't necessarily true - Nat does well in the polls.

And what point did he make about him that anyone with sense can take on board? He's very attractive and people like him because of it.

Same as John then.”

exactly what I thought when I read the OP. So what John says goes? hmmm. His opinions are no more highly valued or valid than any Tom Dick or Harry's.

You could be right. I thought Sophie's jive was horrendous and she was very lucky not to be in the dance off.

It's down to so many variables - what dance you have on the night, what dance the others have on the night, viewer support etc.

I really hope Abbey gets to grips with the Latin as I think she is a gorgeous Ballroom dancer.

He didn't say anything nasty about anyone. Some people seem to take any comment about their own favourites personally, which is rather strange as they're really no more than characters in a seasonal soap opera based around dancing.

I seem to recall he was on once before a few seasons back and couldn't have been more dismissive of Anton and whoever he was dancing with then if he'd tried.

I imagine those opinions would have seen him venerated by most on here with people defending his right to say what he thought.

The whole tone of this discussion puts me in mind of Michael Winner, and I really don't like that.”

Spot on

It was refreshing to hear someone giving a frank opinion for once, whether I agreed with their opinion or not. ITT generally doesn't discuss Strictly in the way we do on these and other forums. John did. I don't see the issue with that.

As for Suggs, I won't attribute anything other than a 'IVETA. IVETA. IVETA. Shit, my mind is numb, what are the contestants' names again?' brain fart, for his naming Dave as the person he would like to win ”

Well said.
It was refreshing to hear someone who isn't afraid to say what he thinks whether I agree with him or not : I like that

If we're talking subjectivity and objectivity, the OP was being subjective. Saying "spot on" is your opinion so it's not objective. The thread was put up with Barrowman being right - those of us who are disagreeing are saying no it's no spot on. That's all I can see in this thread. Just because I and others are of the view that Barrowman's views aren't right are not being rude, we are being objective.

I like someone to say what they think too . But not to say what I think or anyone else for that matter .Which is what Barrowman did .He spoke for others and not himself .

Ben will probably win. I've said it before, it's a Chris Hollins year. It will be Natalie, Susanna and Ben in the final, and Ben will win purely because public want the underdog to win. Not the best dancer but Mr Nice Guy, The Trier. My brother put money on him when he was 66/1 to win and he's now laughing because it's such a predictable scenario. Dancing doesn't come into it this year.

The only difference is he does not have an adorable partnership with Kristina as Ola did with Chris. Kristina has no discernible personality and they have no connection. It's very much a sportsman-coach arrangement. It's easy to overlook her and focus on her partner away from the dancing because he's a really nice guy (if a bit dull), and when they are performing she always makes it look like he is doing more than he is but people generally don't care because he's sweet. Rose tinted glasses. Their actual partnership however is all about the TROPHY and showing off his body. Kristina really, really WANTS that win. It's her sixth year and she can see this is a huge shot for her even though he's not the best dancer. Who cares that it's a dancing competition, right? Mmmmmm, glitterball and media attention...

Barrowman was not right about Natalie being gone. Shock bottom two maybe, but not out of the competition for obvious reasons *cough*judges*cough*. And he was wrong that Ben is an exceptional dancer. But he is probably dead on about Ben winning because all of the pieces are in place. Fairytale SCD ending for Mr Nice Guy.

I won't be surprised if it happens and I hope Sophie can get back to her week 2 Charleston standards .

There is a poster on this thread being disingenuous. They are a very vocal Abbey fan who is hoping that John is right about Natalie because it backs their own preferences. When in reality the only facts we know so far about popularity is that for at least one week Abbey was less popular than anyone now left in the competition.

Err no, sorry to be pedantic but he really, really didn't. He expressed a view that the public aren't taking to Natalie. That's his view of what other people are thinking. He may be right; he may be wrong (he's likely to be partly right and partly wrong as it's quite plain from this board that some members of the public love her and some can't stand her!) but it's still an opinion, not 'speaking for others'.

Don't under estimate Mark & Iveta . They are more the Hollins candidate in my book, however both Ben & Mark have more 'competition' than Chis had, it was a very poor year in dancers with any popularity/personality that year & it was a 2 person final that year which never works well.

Well he should learn to engage a filter before mouthing off silly noncense then . I am not a huge fan of Natalies . i like watching her dance but prefer to see people learn .BUT to announce on TV that no one is warming to her is petty and spiteful IMO

I think Fiona might be a decent Hollins parallel. Dodgy latin, under the radar....

Could John be right about people not warming up to Natalie ? Yes. And about her possibly leaving in 2 weeks ? No. No matter what happens, she will reach that final . Even if she finds herself in the bottom 2, the judges will always save her so I don't know what the ruckus is all about
Natalie will still make the finale whether she is unpopular or not. The reactions over John comments are so OTT.

Yes Fiona/Anton's popularity is a bit of an unknown quantity. Nothing very verbal on the boards, being saved from quite dangerous board positions. I have had my thoughts in them too, but I push it to the back of my mind if I can

Oh Mark and Iveta are fab. LOVE their relationship. I hope you're right about everything here with Ben having more working against him, that's all I can say!
