From a purely technical dance point of view, judging from the training clips, it will be another Brendan abomination.

You can't fake good dancing by getting your sleb to sit on a stupid chair and then drag them off it for a series of lifts and flash moves. The audience are not that stupid.

Dear Brenda still hasn't clue. Brenda is all about Brenda and his darn ego. He wants to make his partners 'look' good so that he looks good. He doesn't nbother to teach them anything.

Poor Sophie, the only dance that worked for her was choreographed by someone else. She's gone downhill ever since. She's not the greatest dancer, bless her, but she could have been better if her pro had only taught her dance instead of just dragging her around and hoping her beauty would cover the total lack of techique and basic balance.

Ace it? That would be nice, but I really don't think so.

True. He's rubbish. He never, ever teaches them to dance. His choregraphy sucks and his IQ is in single figures.

He does his celebs no favours at all.

I think the Argentine Tango is choreographed by outside choreographers as well actually

No, not always - sad to say!

It can be, but Brendan has always chosen not to use them because he thinks his ideas are better.

His ego is his downfall.

I think you seriously underestimate the stupidity of the audience - and I include myself in there! I thought the foxtrot routine was exquisitely choreographed for Sophie's skill level and personality and the waltz was also very cleverly tailored to her posture and looks. So, stupid dolt that I am, I don't agree that the only danced that worked for her (did she not get quite a few marks for the FT?) was the Charlston.

I do agree btw that he doesn't teach the basics but concentrates on the routines but it that is the case with several of the highly rated pros and not the case with some of the (on here) poorly thought of pros (for eg: Anton)

The audience is seldom told the truth anyway about outside input for choreography - I think the party line from the judges and Sophie was that Brendan choreographed the Charlston.

My sources tend to be in television and on the shows - and not in the audience.

Brendan did not choreograph the charleston. He does not even know the charleston - apart from his recent attempt at it, having had lessons in how to do it.

You are perfectly entitled to your opinion, as I am to mine. The audience sees what it wants to see. If it entertains them it serves its purpose.

This of us who view the show with a more experienced dance eye might see a lot more than others would even notice.

Does this mean we can't say what we think? I don't think so. Some people actually actually like to know why so and so looks weird when they jive or why they don't seem to get their top line working, etc, etc.

You don't have to read the opinions, but I'm afraid that you do have to let others have different opnions to yours.

Shouting them down is a bit pointless.

I have heard he did not (or perhaps, was not solely responsible for it would be more accurate) - although he accepted the compliments of the judges on the night on 'his' choreography and Sophie alluded to it on ITT. Equally, I am aware that other pros have had some outside input into dances other than Charleston, AT and salsa which seem to be the only dances it is suggested on here that get 'outside' help.

On the contrary, I would be very interested to hear your informed opinion of why Sophie's foxtrot was so poor and where the choreography didn't work?

Three cheers for that post.

I think we are in a minority though.

Last year I was slaughtered (on here) for daring to suggest that Brendan Where's the Camera Cole should take time off to look after the baby until the child started school.
That went down like a lead balloon.
Poor Sophie.

Pulls up a seat, gets popcorn and a glass of diet pepsi. We could be here a while when Sofs gets started.

ETA but she does explain it better than anyone else I've seen even if I don't always agree with her. She's usually right though.

I just keep thinking what Sophie could have been like with Ian.

Would love to but I can't. I have to get ready for an evening of Argentine Tango at a milonga. Dressing for it takes time: we do make an effort and tonight has a special theme so I may be some time. I won't be home 'til after 3am, with very tired feet and soaking wet hair (we always end up with wet hair!).

Enjoy tonight's SCD. I am recording it as usual so I can FF the worst bits xxx

I know, I know. Some think he can do no wrong, but I beg to differ!

I rather wish that Sophie had been given Pasha, but he might have been too short. Well anyway, any one other than the self-absorbed and rather stupid Brenda!

Bet he can't change a nappy either!

What a good match that would have been! Brilliant idea. He is such fun as well - and such a good teacher.

That would have been fantastic. Very sound thinking Mona, as usual!
