If you really are looking for feedback, here goes ....

You have too many colours.

Your main theme is "Pink".

The cartoon is Pink, Blue and White.

So use only Pink to match the leggings, Blue to match the shirt and white to match the apron body.

So no brown, orange, pale blue background on the posts.

The posts do not have a good contrast - make the backround white.

I am not keen on the font - try something more modern - Verdana perhaps but make the text in a legible font.

Remove the stars falling from the cursor. Nice and pretty and I used such in the past but it can lead to problems on tablets.

Otherwise good work - except for me the text body is too narrow,

Much more elegant.

I would still change the background on the posts to white for contrast and readability with the text on black as you have or maybe blue from the shirt - but that may not have enough contrast (as now).

the brown background in the side boxes is fine.

Also perhaps the posts frame is a bit too narrow.

Readability is still difficult. Not enough contrast between text and background. IMHO you need a lighter background for the posts.

http://sugarpinkblog.blogspot.co.uk/

It is early days, I am working on another post at the moment.

I am going to put a load of recipes, reviews and food ideas. I am always cooking, my entire Instagram is dedicated to food pictures, so why not blog?

I know you guys will be the harshest of critics, so let me know what you think!

Does anyone have any tips for a newbie?
It looks superb in my personal opinion.

I would get rid of the page views counter, those went out of date in the 90s I'd also get rid of the cursor sparkles, those belong on a 13 year old's Tumblr blog.

I liked your site, the comment someone made about it being 'frothy' is spot on.
You write probably the way you speak and your writings come over so easy to read.

If you go on holiday will you do writings about restaurants/food that you try from that area?
