Strange display brightness issue with HTC One
I was on a plane yesterday trying to use the Kindle app on my HTC One, but the display was dimmed to the point of total illegibility. However, the strange thing was that every other app was perfectly OK. I tried automatic and manual brightness but nothing seemed to fix it. Just tried it again today and all is well. Thought it might be some side effect of airplane mode but have just tried that and it is still OK. Anyone any thoughts on this, it was a real pain at the time.

Is there some sort of Night Mode setting in the Kindle app itself?

It's doing it again, and coincidentally I was on a plane yesterday. However this time I can't get it working properly again. I have tried rebooting the phone to no avail. Basically every other app is fine but the Kindle app is dimmed to the point of illegibility (I have automatic brightness off, and brightness turned up full), but only in reading mode - if I select my Kindle library it's normal brightness. Anyone any further suggestions ?

Found it. Two finger swipe up and down the screen increases/decreases brightness. There doesn't seem to be any other way of accessing this setting in the app. Too easy to do it by mistake when pulling down the quick launch menu, but now I know, it won't be a problem in the future.
