I thought I'd make a thread about the guy who got his Xbox One sent early so you can discuss it.

He ordered from Target. Oddly, it isn't the Day One edition, it is the standard edition.

MS banned the console and took down his YouTube videos.

His friend could initiate Kinect commands through Skype, so clearly there is the potential for people other than you to dick around by yelling Xbox commands over voice chat.

Ghosts took 25 minutes to install before it could be played, it needed roughly half of the game installed before you could play. Progress shows as a tile - bottom left on the main segment (http://i.imgur.com/xsVkB0H.png)

The latest dashboard update is 500MB.

He said Game DVR quality is poor and choppy.

You can see how many people are playing what. http://gyazo.com/e3e477bb001822fd19460d52abeb5daf.png

It is quieter than air con. Which doesn't say much, air con can be quite loud.

Yeah... That doesn't inspire any sort of confidence in me. If it is anything like the aircon at work, then no one in my house will be getting any sleep for a few weeks after launch

You'd hope just a ban until 22nd, given it wasn't his fault and they just won't want people using it and going online until everything is final.

I mean there is a chance the dashboard update isn't the final version and if people start downloading test versions it could do bad things etc.

Major Nelson has already stated (on NeoGAF no less) that it won't be a permaban and that they've already been in contact with the user. Presumably it will be overturned on the 22nd. The vast majority of the stuff he was posting about before the ban was positive (25 mins to install enough of 40gb in order to play isn't bad, Hitman Absolution took me around that amount of time to install the PC version and that was around 20gb), and I'm taking his "quieter than aircon" comment as a positive, surely if it was loud he'd have said "it's as loud as a jet engine".

After all this time, the console is a bit warm, but not hot at all. Still silent, really good sign
It's silent, he has confirmed it.

Also curious as to why you started this thread and just posted the few negative aspects and none of the positives he pointed out.

Only negative is the friend giving commands over Skype and it accepting them as if the guy who owns the Xbox gave them and Game DVR being poor quality.

I listed 6 points so that's hardly only negatives.

Sorry I just got the impression you were only pointing out negatives.

You talked about how it may not be silent, it has a large patch, the DVR being choppy and MS banned his console.

But didn't point out things like how he said it's silent after a few hours, not really warm, the games run great in snapped mode, Kinect is really good with the voice commands etc.

Good to see the paranoia is still going strong.

You are the one thinking it is a large patch. I never said it is a large patch. I just said how big the patch is. I didn't say it is a great big eff off enormous 500MB what the heck are they playing at this is going to kill the cloud and everyone's download limits.

He said it was quieter than air con. CJClarke thinks that it is a positive but you think it is a negative. Not my fault how you interpret things is it. I think we can't judge much from that because air con can be noisy we don't know how loud his air con is. Again, your paranoia.

MS banning his console is just an event. If you think it is negative then that's your problem. I think it is neither negative nor positive, and is to be fully expected, I'd ban them too if I was in charge. It isn't fully ready yet and consumers should not yet be snooping around.

We already know it runs cool and we know power supplies get warm to the touch but not that hot - no new news there so not worth posting. I just posted the new stuff that answers people's questions such as how big the dashboard update is, how long is takes to install games etc. Forgive me for not quoting all 45,000 of his tweets.

Geez.

If thats the mandatory install off a physical copy then it just shows how utterly stupid mandatory installs are.

When I go out & buy a disc based game I want to put it in & be able to play, Having to wait any significant amount of time for a mandatory install which I don't even actually want to do is ridiculous.

The game install was always my biggest dislike of some of the earlier PS3 games, MGS4 & GT5 were particularly bad as both took me over an hour to install.

The full game is installed, on both consoles.

What differs between them though it seems is that PS4's PlayGo system allows you to get going much quicker.

However we do not know how COD performs under the PlayGo system, only other games, so until we see what is needed for COD we won't know for sure, but other PS4 games only need a couple of GB install upfront taking just a couple of minutes whereas this needed over 20GB to get going.

Thy haven't banned his console. He is free to play as many single player games as he wants, they won't allow the xbox one to access the online features yet, which tbh isn't a big deal.

Major Nelson has been in contact with him, and is trying to allow early access at some point.

That is what a console ban is. No access to any live/online features.

Ahh I see, my mistake. Was because I was reading elsewhere and they said it wasn't banned

Still, I can see why MS have done it.

As I understand it the PS4 will work like the PS3 & only have partial installs to act as a cashe.

Shuhei Yoshida confirmed this on twitter not long ago.
http://www.gamepur.com/news/12566-ne...-without-.html

IGN console comparison also lists ps4 as no mandatory game installing-
http://uk.ign.com/wikis/xbox-one/PS4...mparison_Chart

Earlier today he also replied to this-
"If for some reason the console received before 29 in Europe and connect to the internet, Sony bans us?"
By saying-
"no!"

Yes that's right - that's what the PlayGo system is - but ultimately the full game ends up on your hard drive.

Not paranoia, just going by your posting history your not the biggest fan of MS.

Strange how you felt the need for 5 paragraph response to attack my comment though despite the fact I had already apologized.

Here's a good report on all thats happened regarding this.

Due to a retail partner's system issue, a very small number of Xbox One consoles were shipped to consumers before the November 22 street date. We're pleased to see the initial response to Xbox One has been so positive, but given we are still putting the finishing touches on our games, UI and online services, as well as confidential partner and media agreements, these console units will be restricted from connecting to Xbox Live until closer to our launch date.
