Am I the only person who thinks Gail is going to have an affair with Scooter. There doesn't seem to be any point to him otherwise.

Please do not put such imagery in my head!

Oooh no, I hope not!!! That would be even worse than Sally and Ian!

I think the point to him is to allow Sarah some happiness this year.

Although the media/press do keep going on about how nice Gail thinks he is, and I also read recently about how Scooter becomes uncomfortable with Gail chatting to him whilst he's working on Beth's pond so it does sound like they might be working towards some kind of big storyline? Nah, they wouldn't do that to Sarah would they?!

And was there anything worse on tv recently than Ian saying the purple top will have to come off?!

I actually thought about this too, but really its too soon after the whole dramas Sarah went through last year. I know this is a soap and all, but Sarah's had enough trauma and should go a whole year without having yet another trauma that directly involves her.

Spoiler
I say directly because of course, theres that whole thing with Martin and Katy which indirectly involves Sarah...but thats ok because she is...or will be on the periphery of that storyline.

Seriously! I wouldn't say it was quite that bad. The more I think about this the more I think it could be true!

i think the story is going to bring David out as a rasict, when scooter went for the meal, he was going upstairs, when he nearly stood on the kid (another trauma for the child!!!) he picked her up, and then the shot went trough to the livingroom from the kitchen, and David gave him a "dirty look"

can`t think of anyother story for scooter, he kisses S-L sleeps with S-L then what?

I think at first Scooter is just going to get the wrong impression about Gail, she'll be trying to make him comfortable and he begins to think she's interested. Other than that, he's here to bring Sarah a bit of happiness and, as we get to know him better, no doubt they'll be more for him to do. He'll gradually get to know the rest of the street and I presume there's other family members/friends that could arrive as well. I quite liked him from first impressions, hasn't done a lot yet, but comes over as a nice bloke still feeling uncomfortable with his new girlfriend's family. At the moment he's getting a typical low key Corrie entrance, which normally works very well.

What ever you think about Scooter and Sara, it will not work out because Coronation Street and Eastenders do not have inter-racial relationships that work (that I know of). They start to bring them in and then show them fail, as if to say that relationships between different races do not work - but we in the real world know differently

i agree i am a little concerned to his 'point' in the show, but really don't think that he will have an affair with gail!
perhaps he is simply a bit of happiness for sarah???

Most soaps don't have realtionships, inter-racial or whatever that work long term. I can't think of one couple who haven't either split up for good or split for a period of time in just about any soap. I don't think race has anything to do with it. At a stretch Madge and Harold from neighbours?

as long as he isn't "happiness" for Gail.

I don't agree. In real life people do not just 'stick to there own kind'. Eastenders is based in London and Coronation Street is based in Manchester, both these cities are 'melting pots' and you would think if you are trying to portray 'aspects of real life' then you would have at least one inter-racial couple. Inter-racial relationships are more common than having a murderer on every corner of a place the size of walford

I did think that the way he goes on about "I got it off the skip" and "I work on the skips". I wonder if he OWNS the skips, or perhaps his father and that he really is a nice guy, only rich!!

No, that's not what I'm saying, I'm just saying that in soaps basically no relationship lasts, inter-racial, gay, straight or whatever. It's just a tradition of soap that most couples relationships won't last, it's got little to do with the ethnic background of the people invovled, it's just the formula of soaps. Yes, inner city based soaps should probably be more representative in the make up of their various couples/families, but they still wont last, adultery etc is what makes the soap world go round.

how about sarah having a little luck in her life after falling pregnant at 13, her baby being abducted and almost killed, her baby not having a real father, being abducted by a paedophile, her long term b/f announcing he was gay and her child dying

I agree that most soap couples break up purely because of the high turnover of characters and actors, regardless of race/sexuality. I was trying to think of interracial couples in the soaps, and most of them just ran their course rather than breaking up because of "issues" - Michelle Fowler/Clyde Tavernier, Della & Binnie (gay and interracial!!!), Eric & Dee Pollard, Steve McDonald/Fiona etc

As Cilla is quite obviously from another planet, does that make her relationship with les inter-racial?

Robbie and Nita in Eastenders. They lasted, they were written out but they lasted. Technically.
