I do laugh at references to her being jolly hockey sticks as it's just her media persona, a quick Google reveals there's much more to her off air. But she's doing "overtime for her employer" on SCD.

I like their partnership a lot. One week fabulous another all over the place, and they just smile and keep going. I know it infuriates their detractors and that just amuses me even more

It was a beautiful waltz, but I was annoyed she hasn't fixed the left shoulder problem, it's been mentioned by the judges enough already! Don't know why they let it go this time...

I do like it when we get a proper dance, this one had spins to die for,

Kevin bless him is a proper ballroom dancer

To be fair, it was less of a problem. Only in the beginning when she was doing her armorubba in the solo waltz step section, and when Kevin crept up creepily from behind, she raised her left shoulder and and I went "There she goes again!" and when they settled into the proper ballroom room hold her shoulders were down almost throughout, esp the18 pivots porn, where it would have been easy for people to lose their posture and even then she did not raise her left (or right) shoulder.

I know because I've watched the youtube clip several times now.

I thought the judges turned a blind eye to some very basic shortcomings in technique there.

1. Her posture was poor - apart from in the prolonged pivoting sequence, where the centrifugal force seemed to deliver the correct angle in her upper body.

2. It looked like Kevin was dragging her through the routine.

3. A Waltz is supposed to flow. Check out the bit just before they went into that pivoting sequence (about a minute into the routine). Susanna and Kevin were sideways-on to the camera and moving towards it. The gapping momentarily perfectly exposes her jerky rise and fall. Week 1 technique in Week 7 - but nothing that couldn't be fixed with blatant lies and 9s.

Even Natalie, clearly the best among the celebs, had occasional gapping when in hold (when she's actually in hold). Abbey still myteriously gapping a lot and Patrick and Ashley were even worse (esp. Patrick, but even so he's improved on Saturday) when he/they still get nines...

Abbey now seems to be lagging a long way behind some of the others technique-wise. What makes a Charleston a Charleston was completely missing from her routine. In a different series Craig would have given that a 4.

I think Aljaz was trying to break out from the Charlestons is only gurning and FUN FUN FUN mould. Susanna (and esp. Kevin) had such a slating with their more 'traditionally SCD styled' charleston and that's not up Abbey's street. She can't do cheesy.

So the pro must think of something. Agree it was a charleston inspired routine but a full-on chaleston like Sophie's, but it was still not bad, perhaps overmarked by two/three points but not bad, and memorable to some for other (good) reasons...

Also, have you considered the judges didn't see Susanna's gapping (and that only happaned split second on camera) because they were positioned in such a way the judges couldn't see it to be sure?

For me, occasional gapping is no big deal in a celebrity performance. The jerky rise and fall was the real problem. I pointed out that particular bit in the routine because the gapping allows us to see it so clearly.

She could be anticipating her 'big move', those 18 pivot turns, so lost contentration and thus the gapping and the wobbly bits. Perhaps that's why none of the judges 't award that dance a ten?

Susanna had the odd ffault but was still IMO worth the 9 equally so when you look at Abbey's charleston (as many are comparing susanna and Abbey) and she is messy on and out of sync on quite a few things and got 9

Susanna and Kevin's waltz was just sublime and should have got at least one 10 .
I usually skip past Len's lens but watched on Sun and was delighted when he pointed out the little hover after their pause .

For me it wasn't worth more than a 7.

But for all Susanna's lack of technique, at least she came out and gave us a Waltz. If Bruno had been honest he might have described Abbey's routine as "the vegetarian option".

Yes. A wonderful dance. Waltz is indeed the greatest dance of all.
