I hope Strictly doesn't become another farce programme and nobody is voted off tonight because Natalie Gumede didn't perform. I know she is ill or in hospital but rules should be adhered too and anyone who isn't there should go out. What's the viewers opinion?

the rules are being adhered too and she is being let through to next week! i believe the same has happened to a few other contestants before, one i can think of is Tina and Jared

So anybody worried about a performance can send in a sicknote all the way to the finals.

No, they're only allowed to miss one week over the whole series.

Is Strictly a Farce?

No.
Its an entertainment package.
I would have thought that was fairly obvious.

One bye per couple, and I imagine the last thing Natalie was worried about was her performance, that jive looked potentially fab

i think Natalie should pull out of the competition, sorry to say that but if she's there next week i will never again vote, I never watch or vote for x factor after the same thing happened there. Some dancing is brilliant and some not so good, but at least they were there. Maybe the bottom two next week should do a fainting job.

Yes.

She has failed to compete. I will say this for any competitor.

Any pairing could opt out of expulsion if they give poor performances.

It is to viewers who are expecting a proper dancing competition. Those who vote for muscles, looks and personality know it isn't.

I would say that if there are viewers still expecting it to be a proper dancing competition after nine years, that doesn't prove it's a farce.

All it proves is that those viewers are either incredibly stubborn, somewhat delusion and/or really really slow on the uptake.

It is a farce, the judges can't even judge properly, overmarking average dances.

Natalie deserves to be there on merit, she has trained hard all week, it's not her fault she is ill.

I think she will probably pull out anyway.

Suppose it's an entertainment show and they're mostly actors who can keep us interested.
Kirsty Soames collapses after seeing hairy bikers Frankfurter sausage. Dr Martin 'Ash' Ashford administers first aid.

No, it's the highlight of Saturday night. The X Factor is a farce of a show .

The rules are being adhered to.

The rules are being adhered to, every couple is allowed one week off if they can't perform. Tina had a week off, Jade had a week off but then had pull out. Given there was no chance she was going tonight I'm sure Natalie would have much rather performed than been taken into hospital.

This is nonsense. Couples can't just "opt out", the BBC requires that a doctor certifies that the person in question isn't fit to dance.

The rule of allowing competitors one week off for injury is well established (see separate thread). Catch up.

Really changing the subject here, but as i don't want to start another thread with something weird i heard tonight from my niece. Len the judge was talking and my niece said that he is a brilliant ballroom dancer, a welder on the QE2 and was born with two extra toes. How girls find out these things amaze me lol

And if its two in a row?

As for 'catchup' remark, does you no favours when supporting a discussion.

No they can't, they can only get a bye if they're unfit to dance and only for one week.
