Argentine tango? Brendan looked like he was transferring a mannequin to a chair
I thought Sophie's 'Argentine tango' was way overmarked
Brendan was mostly carrying her around and moving her from and to the chair Where's the fancy footwork that Vincent and Rachel S did in their AT? |

Yes indeed, she got into a pose and then hung on to it for dear life as Brendon tried to move her around, footwork was limp and lazy as usual....poor effort imo.

I thought Sophie's impression of a mannequin was actually very good.

I do agree. I wanted Sophie to do well but Brendan carried her around & when he wasn't carrying her he was placing her into position.

I liked the routine, but Sophie is 'floppy' out of hold and lacking inner core. Her free hand looks lost as well. Saying that, when doing the lifts she looks good.
It was a difficult routine. But I agree, it seemed predominantly a like a lot of tricks. Still enjoyed it though. |

Wish I'd seen this thread. And yes she did.
I want some personality and verve from Sophie, it wasn't alive or something. It wasn't a disaaarster though, just oddly stiff and disconnected. |

I thought that she danced the Argentine Tango exactly how the judges had previously said that it should be danced.
Brilliant dancing, brilliant choreography. |

Vincent (and Flavia) was world champion at the AT, Brendan is hardly in the same class.

I thought this was a creditable attempt from Sophie, and loads better than her recent efforts. The slightly cool styling worked ok with the dance I felt, a bit of disdain is ok by me in the AT.

I was really looking forward to seeing the first AT of the series, and I thought they might do a great job, but I ended up feeling really disappointed.
Overmarked too, in my opinion. |

It wasn't as bad as I expected after looking at the training footage.

Yes. The routine was very Brendan is the shop assistant who's been designated the display window but can't quite work out how best to present the dolled-up shop dummy so keeps arranging and re-arranging her into different positions until he's satisfied.
It was very Brendan actually. |

I felt the comments and marks were fair. And I disagree that it was just Brendan carrying Sophie around or placing her. She held her own I thought.
But she does need to inject a little more life and expression into her performances, that was all that was missing for me. I'm sure she feels the music, the dance and the connection with Brendan but she doesn't show or share that enough. Much improved though. |

Damn music was much too fast and annoying for an AT .
They were overmarked . Had no passion, no connection. It was like AT by numbers . Now I do this, now I do that . |

I agree with everyone who said that he wa like a mannequin, I realised tonight why for me there is always something that is a bit off with her and it's because there is never any emotion from her when she is dancing, whether it is joy or passion there is just nothing!

Disdain is sort of OK in an AT if it is the lady acting in a slightly haughty manner but I didn't feel that was how she appeared. It had a disdain but no intensity and the two need to come together. I feel the ideal would be a lady to perform as if she thinks the man is not really up to snuff but somehow can't help herself.
So the head says I'm not really bothered and the heart (slightly embarrassed cough) says I want you. |
