Her health is far more important than pushing herself to her extreme limits just to win a silly little plastic trophy imo. She already has severe back problems and should really be easing off - how is she going to cope with two routines in a couple of weeks ?

Her absence last night was worrying news. I have always liked Natalie and, frankly, cannot see what those who do not like her have to complain about. Each to their own, I suppose.

In my layman's view, she is the most likely winner by a fair margin, but if there are underlying health problems that do not clear up quickly, it may well become difficult for her, which is very sad. I, for one, do not believe that any of this is put on to gain public sympathy. She was well out in front on the judges' scores and has no need to resort to such tactics. Nor do I think she would anyway.

As for what John Barrowman apparently said (didn't see that episode myself), she has never been in a dance-off so somebody must be voting for her. Does he have access to the figures?

Young people can't suffer from exhaustion if they overdo things? Are you from the 'rich people can't get depression' camp?

No disrespect to Fiona but she doesn't move as fast as the younger ones and possibly doesn't train as long.

The verb is 'allude'. Just saying.

Cannot understand why if she is taking the amount and strength of analgesia that she is, she is still taking part. I know that being young it's hard to look forward but there must be people advising her.The damage being done now will come back to bite her big style in a few years time. I've seen so many people that have damaged themselves when younger suffering for it in their 40s, 50s and 60s. The girl should be looking after herself!

Agreed. I don't know her, but I think she may be her own worst critic. Here's hoping she recovers so we can have the pleasure of watching her dance on the show again.

Firstly:

Natalie's description of her struggling with the jive tells us nothing. I've heard a similar description from dancers who have then gone and performed well. It can come from being a perfectionist.

Secondly:

Fainting twice is not necessarily serious. It happens because the body hasn't fully recovered. I have fainted multiple times in a short period when I used to have panic attacks as a child and adolescent (usually initiated by someone describing something medical or my having to stand for some time). They're under control now and happen infrequently. She would be a bit drained and mentally fragile though. The fear of it happening again would be the most serious problem.

However, if the blackouts are linked to the painkillers she is taking (and that can be the case) then that is more of an issue and needs medical attention. Same as if there is any other medical cause.

I'd rather not comment on Natalie's health until we know more, but I just wanted to say that at this stage of the series, all of the celebs will really be feeling the strain.

With the exception of Ben because he's a top sportsman, none of the celebs are used to hours of physical exercise 5 days a week. Each week we see a few minutes VT of their training and an ITT interview, but I think the rest of the time they are slogging away. Plus meeting any other work commitments.

Every celeb who takes part says it was much harder than they thought.

Every celeb is either exhausted by now or well on their way.

By the way, if you are going to post fatuous nonsense, at least spell it correctly.”

So you know she has these symptoms do you? I really think someone this good, who has such multiple health problems should never have been allowed on Strictly in the first place..... So sorry about my spelling error, just noticed it, it's awful being so Fick you know, anyway stop the references to my size, with the word fatuous will you....!:

Agree, any fit person can be struck down with problems regardless of age. Anyone who claims otherwise is talking rubbish. Often the more fit and active can fall foul of illnesses a sedentary person would just shrug off. Simply because of the intensity put into training.

Until we know exactly why Natalie collapsed anything is pure speculation. Shame some have to be so nasty about it. Are they Ian Duncan Smith lackeys perhaps?

I have to say though with bitchy nonsense like some of the posts in this thread and the idiocy Barrowman spouted (dancing competition, Natalie will be voted out, Ben should win), I feel rather more inspired to vote for Natalie now so maybe her great 'conspiracy' is working

Really missed her last night but her health comes first.

I wonder when we will hear more?

The speculation will just get worse if we don't hear anything until tomorrow's ITT and Natalie uses Twitter, so the longer we wait, the worse this board will get. Some people have no sense of decency.

To be fair Buddy, the Show's producers have done their best to contribute to this by announcing it on the news, and then showing a fairly dramatic clip on Strictly.

I do hope she feels better this week though.

The BBC didn't help by showing that intrusive clip on the show last night.

I really do wish Natalie well and hope she gets the all clear. But I must admit I enjoyed last night's show much more with 3 or 4 equally able celebrities fighting it out for the top spot.

Yes, there was a feeling of true competition for a change.

Denise didn't win last year because although she had been the best dancer by miles throughout the series, her show dance was boring. Technically very good, and a real show dance, but boring.

Louis on the other hand did something with the WOW factor in bucketsfull. I've watched that dance many times now, it was absolutely beautiful. That was what won him the glitterball, nothing else.

Did you not want her out weeks ago.

Surprisingly it feels to me like Susanna has it in the bag without Natalie there.

So there you go.

On the contrary, Denise was elevated from being behind Dani & Kimberley in the vote leading up to the final, to ahead of at least one of them (and according to the vote leak it was both of them) by something that happened in the final. I'm not saying it was her showdance (although personally I thought it was far more impressive than Louis') but clearly she did something.

I can't do a complete U-turn on my attitude towards Natalie. I don't accept her place in the competition for reasons I've repeated often

BUT I'm not an idiot coming here to flame the boards. She's clearly ill, I wish her as full a recovery as the circumstances allow. There's no good in attacking her for the sake of doing so during her absence.
