I hope it stays this way! Proper dancing!

It really should, it will be interesting to see whether the ratings have dipped without the props, oh and that other old crutch, the usual presenter......... However, I fear it won't be the last we see of them in any event......!

Ben was bouncing up and down on a trampolene for ages ; Sophie was in and out of that chair like Stephanie Beacham in a group dance ; Mark had a fluffy toy cat, a stupid outfit AND a swivel chair.

(Just for completeness sake)

Oh dear forgot about them! I don't think the chair was too bad for the AT. The trampoline was random - what has that got to do with the jive or sailors??? But overall the faffing was much less in previous weeks.

I enjoyed the show much more without Bruce. Tess and Claud make a great team. Tess is brilliant at playing it straight out front and I love Claudia's cheekiness in the tesspit.

I have always loved Bruce and supported him but this series I really think should be his last. In my opinion he was a woman or a less famous presenter he would be out the door. He messes up every joke, gets angry with the audience when they don't laugh, gives his own critiques, interrupts the judges... the list goes on. It was great to hear the judges comments properly for once

I think Blackpool could be a prop infestation again. With that big dance floor to fill it will be proparama again.

I hope not, I love it when they just dance!

If I wanted to see them playing with props I'd be watching reruns of Bruce and the generation game :

I anticipated Abbeys hat falling off .It was too small to keep on by gravity alone .

Yes, I agree, not having the props was a huge improvement, far more focus on the dancing.

I think the key is whether something is being used as part of the dance or whether it's being used to delay and reduce the amount of dancing the contestant is having to do.

Hats, canes, capes, skirts, steps, even that chair in the AT - I don't really mind them if appropriate to the dance and the theme of the dance and if used whilst dancing. Props as a way of introducing the theme, say for 5-10 seconds, have their place too. But as Len (well) said last week, it's when props are used as a way of avoiding dancing, of cutting 90 seconds of dancing down to say 60 or less, that they become a real problem.

Great show last night because there were so few solid props.
