She kept it quiet though. Should have said this at the start and there is no problem. It is 30 hours more than everybody else except natalie
I don't know how many hours she did but maybe about the same |

It wouldn't bother me at all or change my attitude towards Abbey. Strictly is and always has been an uneven playing field in a multitude of different ways and we don't have access to all the relevant information.
This is the hypocrisy of Natalie's knockers. |

What can you learn in 30 hours which you can remember, and use, years later when doing multiple styles of dance?

Abbey is not the first to have lessons before the series starts.
Pretty sure susanna has had lessons too. Doesn't bother me |

The article http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/s...clancy-2715274 states that she had "30 hours’ training from professional dance teachers during her teenage years when she was in girl band Genie Queen."
So she's had 30 hours (which is nothing and less that a week of her current training) in dancing for pop music (presumably and so totally different genre) when she was a teenager. Bit of a no news article if you ask me. Imagine how many hours of training Kimberley Walsh, Alesha Dixon & Emma Bunton had (even Michelle Williams) when they were in their bands. Abbey's 30 hours are pretty nominal in comparison As far as I'm concerned if she's done this training and danced as part of this group then she is not a dance novice. |

Utterly shameful and pathetic non-story, designed to stir up controversy. It's almost on a par with the article about her past indiscretions, which, IIRC, happened around the same time.
So, seven to ten years ago, she had a few dance lessons, then had a pretty wild time of it, during which time I confidently predict she will have forgotten all about the dance steps. Dave Myers has had ten times the amount of lessons Abbey is alleged to have had (and rather more recently) but they don't appear to have helped him much, do they? |

But we all knew about Susannah. Some even said that she had an advantage. Abbey was very quiet about her training.

how on earth can learning how to move to pop music have any bearing on her SCD performances ?? - not a lot she is good but not exceptional - and I bet Susanna has forgotten a lot of the training she received for a cha cha a couple of years ago. Ashley has done dancing - many of the performers have

30 hours of lessons 10 years ago. Yep, that's going to make all the difference. NOT.
Honestly, if they think this is news or likely to affect anything, people need to get a grip. |

As far as I'm concerned they learn things like choreo, musicality, timing, performance skills etc - skills that would put a contestant in good stead for doing a show like strictly. So I reiterate the point I made before....it's because Abbey didn't mention it is the reason why the media have picked up on it. |

I just perfer people to be honest. I suspected from the first week that she had some training. This poor little nervous girl act was overplayed

This is a bit of a storm in a tea cup. I thought from the headline that she had been having lessons just before Strictly

I really dont care if Abbey has had lessons and I think it quite likely that she has had far more lessons and far more intensive training than that article suggests.....what irks me is the dishonesty especially when week after week Natalie has been relentlessly slated and hammered for it.Not forgetting of course Len's comments holding her up as some sort of shining example

I think SEB got some inspiration for dancing articulation technique watching 'Popeye' cartoons.

Who would blame her if she had, at least she's taking it seriously. It is also not going to make any difference. I had a year's worth of ballroom dancing lessons when I was a teenager, but I very much doubt that I'd be able to dance anything at all, never mind to a decent level, now.

What rubbish.... 30 hours of lessons 10 years ago hardly matters does it?
![]() I've probably had the equivalent throughout my life in some shape or form but wouldn't think it was worth declaring that I had danced previously because of them. I'm pretty sure she would have had to learn from scratch when she started on the show just like most of the others. |

Has anyone read the actual article? The teacher herself says she didn't teach Abbey and the girls to dance, but choreographed their moving between microphones, whilst singing to a ballad.

Any person that has a background as a pop artist of some kind ( Ahsley, SEB, Abbey), anyone who has been to stage schools (Fiona, Julien did tap, Natalie trained for years), does musicals (Mark), has done CIN (Susanna) have all had some dance training.
Training only takes you so far. Talent is another thing. |

She says its 30 hours
She's been in the public eye for years now, quite a high profile model and then WAG, if all they can grub up on her is 30 hours of dance when she was a teenager as part of a girl band, then I don't think there is anything to get all outraged about. |

I don't think it's the fact that she had the lessons and danced before that matters...it's the fact that she and the show never mentioned it whereas other contestants have......perhaps that's not seen in the 'spirit' of the show either.
I'm personally not 'outraged' by it because I knew before when I found a link on wiki.....,just think it's laughable that the show painted her as someone who'd never danced before. |
