They aren't which seems to be on the basis of the BBC believe it would be harder to recruit people if the figures about their popularity were going to be published. Which I can understand tbh. It'd be interesting to see them but not overly bothered.

They aren't. They are apparently covered by the official secrets act and not even a FOI request will loosen Auntie's tongue!

We had a 'leaker' last year though, didn't we?
A poster published some quite plausible looking figures that he said he got from a mate at one the companies running the phone voting.
Never got any validation of them though, and I think the guy took umbrage when he got some critical comments from other posters and didn't repeat the exercise.

Back in the golden era of Strictly the numbers they used for voting were owned by the telecoms company I worked for. The job I did allowed me access to call stats.

They don't need to publish the actual figures but just give the order o popularity as they do with the judges.
Mind you, if they did that we could check the final placings for ourselves and not rely on the Beebs results which have been known to be a bit dodgy in the past.

I can understand the possible problem with some "so called" celebrities not wanting it to be revealed how unpopular they are with the public, but I'm sure the BBC would like to hide how comparatively few people bother to vote, compared to the viewing figures.
I'd hazard a guess too, that since the programme now attracts people who aren't as interested in the quality of the dances, as many of those who've always appreciated a good standard, the percentage of votes of the total viewing numbers, has dropped even further.

Publishing them will bruise a lot of celebrities egos which imo is the main reason why they're not published .

Most corporate computer systems log all activity so it would be easy to identify someone looking at the figures and check whether they had good reason to look at them.

I think the BBC have just decided that there is no reason to publish the figure except to give the tabloids some cheap material to fill their pages.

I wonder how the voting would go if they ever introduced a topless dance after all the guys were booted off? That would make the ratings go sky high! I'm all for that.
