Humax Remote
My Foxsat PVR is about three and half years old and has given great service.
However, I have recently noticed that the ENTER BUTTON on the remote has become intermittent and so I replaced the batteries for the first time. The second set of batteries were no better and I replaced these with a couple of Duracells and these gave only a marginal improvement, though I did discover that all three sets of batteries seemed to work better later in the evening. I very nearly decided that the remote was faulty, but in one last effort to avoid paying £25 for a replacement on eBay, I warmed the remote on a radiator - and that did the trick! Warming a nearly dead battery will always give it a short term boost, but two sets of replacement batteries were new and did not work reliably. I have not tried cold batteries in a warmed remote, or warmed batteries in a cold remote to establish whether it is a Remote problem or a battery issue. It's also odd that only the Enter Button is affected.

HUMAX RM-F01 Remote control
You could try the following to check the clean the circuit board, seem to resolve the issue I had with the ok button.
http://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/2...+open+the+case You need to be careful removing the case, but it may be worth a try if you was planning to replace it. |

Warming the remote is very likely to have temporarily distorted the contact pads providing a temporary cleaner or greater area of contact. It would certainly indicate that the problem is dirty/worn contacts and would suggest the solution above.

I have exactly the same problem with the "OK" button on my downstairs Humax remote.- drives me potty! Sometimes feel I could hurl the damned thing through the window!
Upstairs remote (same model) perfectly OK. Going to give this a try. Vin Blanc |

I use a Harmony 555 universal but I also keep my Humax Foxsat HDR remote to hand too as it is often useful for tweaking the TV and AV amp settings rather than temporarily switching the 555 to Device mode usually when wanting to watch one picture to the sound of another.

I washed the rubber layer in warm soapy water as suggested but noticed that the copper track side of the printed circuit boad had black powdery deposits where the pushbutton makes contact and completes the circuit. With a new cotton bud dipped in surgical spirit I cleaned all 78 switch sites - it took less than 4 minutes, let the spirit evaporate and reassembled. Lighter fuel may work just as well, but I would avoid using WD40. |

I have a problem with my Humax remote and was wondering if anyone has the RM Series replacement remote and if so does it have a button for the schedule as I use the schedule and red button to access the guide.
Thanks for any reply's |

The issue here is caused by dirt and grease build up between the conductive paint on the underside of the rubber buttons and PCB itself. If you have a bit of technical knowhow then simplp opening up the remote, wiping the back of the buttons with a dry cloth plus gently rubbing over the PCB where the contacts are very lightly with a pencil eraser will solve this.

My remote has also become less responsive in the last week. It does seem to coincide with the recent fall in temperature and since I've cranked up the heating it seems to be working fine again.

Further to my earlier post (No. 4), I opened up my Humax remote RM-F01 and cleaned it thoroughly as recommended.
Result, all now working perfectly and my sanity restored once more! Note: The casing is extremely difficult to open but can be done with perseverance. Result is well worth the effort! Vin Blanc |
