Wait. Is she not dancing the Jive they have practised if she gets well enough this week? I just assumed she would do the Jive rather than learn something brand new and forego all the training shes worked hard at? Anyone? .
nope they normally have to rehearse a new dance

The latest from the BBC site says at 15:58 today

"Strictly Come Dancing contestant Natalie Gumede has been ordered to rest after being taken to hospital following a fainting episode during rehearsals.

A Strictly spokesman said the former Coronation Street actress, 29, would see a doctor on Monday."

Unless she makes a miraculous recovery, it isn't looking good that she will continue, cos she is losing a lot of rehearsal time.
She might only have missed one day (Monday), hardly something that would hamper her as long as she is fully fit & rested.

Disagree.
I don't think it would make one iota of difference to the viewing figures.
Well there was 1 less last night when I didn't watch

Good point, but I had assumed she wouldn't. Cos if she did that would actually give her an unfair advantage over the others in that she would have longer to train for the Jive than they did for their dances. So it is a very good point, and I wonder what the rules say.

They have to do a different dance or they would be seen as having an unfair advantage over the other couples.

Should we be surprised that she hasn't already seen a doctor? Anybody here think they're deliberately not telling us that on Monday she'll see a doctor who specializes?

I think she has already seen a doctor. She went to A&E didn't she? I read this to mean she would be seeing a doctor on Monday to assess if she could continue.

Can't see her coming back myself, a graceful exit via the back door is on the cards. She knows the furore there would be if she actually won now.

I hate to say this as she IS a dreaded ringer but the show was dull without her.

I mean - the comedy-hatahs have got Dave to bug them. The ringah-haters have Natalie.

Without someone to protest against it's really rather bland. Come back!

I blooming well hope she doesn't bow out as that means I won't see Artem dancing each week. Feel so sorry for him he must be really concerned for her.

Furore from who people who have never liked her and fans of some of the Celebs. Imo who ever wins will know that they were not the best Dancer on the show but of course it is not a show about Dancing so it does not matter.

If she came back and ''won now'' as you put it, then that would be down to the voters for voting for her. So I cannot see any furore other than from a few bitter supporters....and those who lose money at the bookies of course.

Hope she can come back and Artem insists she eases up on the training hours. The show was definitely lacking the extra something this pair bring.

Thanks Tommo . Don't doctors work on a Sunday anymore

I do hope Natalie can continue but her health must come first . I know she will be devastated if she can't continue as she was loving the experience.

how do you cope when there are no outstanding contenders? or you don't like the lead competitor? i love SYTYCD, which is full of very able dancers, but SCD is a different programme...

i thought last nights show was easily the best so far, i enjoyed most of the routines, and i thought most of the contestants had improved.

i wondered on another thread whether that was because they genuinely have all improved, or because without natalie there the field seems more open. for me, i think its the former, and you missed a good show.

If you practise in Harley Street you can afford to take Sundays off.

Not the ones in Harley Street, darling.

Natalie said in her blog recently that she's been visiting Harley Street a lot recently (I'm guessing the back).

I won't try and second guess the medical opinion that she will undoubtedly get - it's just that keeping all my fingers and toes crossed is getting in the way of cooking supper...

I consider myself more a Punctuation Pacifist than a Grammar Nazi, but Mr. Duckfeet, who is a Copy Editor, tells me that the phrase has the latter (i.e. possessive) meaning in this context and thus does not require an apostrophe.

Also - very best wishes to Natalie - she would be sorely missed if she was forced to withdraw from the competition!
Thank you, Duckfeet, and a particular thank you to Mr Duckfeet. I instinctively left out the apostrophe, but worried about it (Peeve the Pedant) - I guess I was confusing it with the phrase 'for what it's worth', which would definitely have the apostrophe...

I only really watch for the able dancers, I just don't get the funny ones and I was only really watching for Natalie.

I love ice-skating and although I love DOI with Jayne and Chris, I do prefer to watch the pros in the Europeans etc. I just get bored if they are useless.

I am pleased you enjoyed the show.

Maybe there'll be an update on 'tonight's' show?

Seriously, I hope she is recovering. Am hoping that the symptoms indicate a virus rather than a recurrence of the back problem which could be more long term.
Could be anything.Flu? Back? I had a student collapse on me once in an exam and that was caused by taking too many painkillers for a pain for their body to deal with.......

You probably can but if you are a Dr to performers you probably work Saturday and Sundays for anyone injured on stage. after all this is when the majority of stage work goes on.
