I didn't really need any food on Saturday as I had everything in but I popped into M&S to buy some gloves and while I was there thought I might as well have a look at the tinned goods to se if I could get anything for the store cupboard

I saw an amazing bargain !

It was tins of 'Three Bean Chili'...........400g..........which is enough for 2 servings if you have it with rice or spuds

The tin cost around £2.70

But amazingly it also said '3 for £2'.............so it was £2.70 for one but £2 for 3'.............

I called a store assistant over to point this out to her thinking it had to be a mistake but she took a tin to a spare till, put it through and told me it was coming up as £2 for 3

So I bought 3..............

They also had the tins of Vegetable Curry on the same deal so I might pop in on Monday and stock up with them...........

I think it had to be a mistake...........I suspect it should have '3 for 2' ie 3 tins for the price of 2............not 3 tins for £2

Sometimes they overstock and no one buys, so they invite people to buy with a lower price and shift more units.

true, but they wouldn't usually offer three of something for a cheaper price than one !

It wasn't a case of there being a pile of tins on sale at 3 for £2

Each individual tin was priced up at £2.70 but you got 3 for £2

If I'd have picked up one tin and taken it to the till it would have cost me £2.70.................

Remarkable.............

I popped into an M&S today and they were indeed 3 for 2, so it does look like a one-off mistake.

Reminiscent of the famous Terry's Chocolate Orange blunder Tesco made a couple of years back, where by combining offers you could get six for the price of one, but only if you bought in multiples of six.

Got mine in town today and 3 veggie curries that should have been £1.64 each. The cashier could not believe what they came up at but told her it said 3 for £2 on the ticket at the side of the tins. On the receipt it says 3 soups for the price of 2. But £2.49 was printed on the ticket 3 times then a discount of £5.47 - price to pay £2.
She was going on her break and was going to buy some. Will call in my local one tomorrow to see if there are any in there.
Thanks for that swingaleg.
