Ha ha, totally agree about the cringeworthy contemporary dances!
I remember an episode of DWTS a few years ago where the remaining contestants had to do one of four dances - my memory isn't great on this but I think three of the four were lindy hop, mambo and lambada. Some of the pros were finding it a challenge because they didn't know the types of dances very well.

And I thought it was just me! I used to go ballroom dancing on a regular basis years ago, so should be able to recognise the dances, but often, just can't. What with the faffing about and weird music choices - it ain't dancing like it oughta be!
