Yes. Up until 1 week, I just had 1 person on my ignore list but since a few days, that number increased exponentially. I prefer it much better this way . I'm usually a very tolerant person but it was unnerving to see the same exact few people being awful over and over again or recycling the same lame jokes ( what they think is a joke anyways ) .....so yeah I had to remind myself how the ignore feature works here and use it . There's only a few weeks of strictly left and I intend to enjoy it

Maybe there's something that can be done with their design to get rid of the hum and the strobing, Terry. There certainly should be scarecrow-type warnings to stop birds flying into them. Or maybe they're in the wrong locations. Maybe their sail-like appearance works better aesthetically at sea”

I'd temporarily re-open a few coal-fired power stations, we've plenty of coal.
Let's leave "saving the planet" for another twenty years, when we've got ourselves out of this depression and the energy producing technology has taken another leap.
How much difference is that going to make given the number of coal-fired power stations the Chinese and The Indians are opening every month?

i don't have anyone on 'ignore', i find i can do that without the assistance of the forum software...

This is true, but you can cut down the number of posts on any thread using the facility.

I've only one on it, (it's not me) and there's nine ignored posts on this thread alone already, guess who?

Really? Who would put anyone on ignore? I would never do that, no matter how much they annoyed me - I might miss something and an Internet forum post is hardly going to harm me, is it?
Some of you take this forum lark far too seriously.

Edited to say, no one will probably read this as I would think I am on a few ignore lists

I agree. Its only a forum, and they are only opinions.
Toughen up, folks.

It's not even about being tough or taking the forum too seriously (well for me anyways ) . I've read pretty awful things on the internet so I don't care. For me , it's more of an annoyance at some posters who share pretty narrowed views or like to say awful things just for the sake of it. It just become annoying to see the same posters over and over again say those things so what better way to deal with it than just putting them on ignore ?

And your last sentence, ; probably

That would make sense, but I think that Usenet disproved it long ago.

The ignore feature is, unfortunately, rubbish. You still see the person's posts -- just not the contents -- and you still see whatever anyone else quotes.

I would have read this thread, out of curiosity.

However, I can't actually see most of it.

People get sufficiently worked up over SCD to start using the ignore feature? Blimey. Some people need to get a grip... it's only a fluffy telly prog.

I don't know that here are hard and fast rules. Some own-name or realistic-name posters are lovely (points to quoted post), some are evil beggars (mentions no names). In a funny way, even though a user name isn't you exactly, there's a big sense of it being a version of you... It's your reputation on that forum and I think if you're the kind of individual who would be guided by decent standards in person there's a good chance you will too online as 'Tufty the Impaler' or 'Zoo Fanatic', or whoever.

Oi! Sofakat.

That joke has already been done by someone else!

and I've done, "I've put myself on ignore."

Edit.

Whoops!
What's gone wrong?
I can read this!

I can do very simple logic puzzles, only the very simple ones, mind...

So-ooo-oo, Jim K is on your ignore list, since he's already done that joke and you just wouldn't be seen dead repeating something

Not that you'll be able to read this either

Opinions never hurt or are even annoying. I am a politics programme junkie so quite happy to deal with diversity of opinion.

I've switched off rude, uncouth people who are incapable of arguing their position politely - even on a dance programme. Imagine what these people are like talking about politics, religion or football.

And also people who I feel have a personality disorder and are seeking attention. They should seek help from the professionals.

Life is too short to waste time discoursing with wasters. So best to extinguish them from my screen - given the limitations of the ignore feature.
