Natalie Gumede has said she’s devastated after missing Saturday night’s latest Strictly Come Dancing live show.

The Corrie star was ruled out of the weekend’s performances after fainting twice during rehearsals.

She was due to perform a jive to Proud Mary by Tina Turner with pro dance partner Artem Chihvintsev.

As per the rules of Strictly, Natalie was given a ‘bye’ through to next week and the show continued with a public vote, that saw Dave Myers leave the competition.

Taking to Twitter yesterday, Natalie thanked her fans for their support over the weekend.

“So deeply touched by your messages. Thank you so very much,” she said. “Was devastated not to dance yesterday but so thankful to be given the chance to dance again.

“I think we’re looking at exhaustion and sleep is doing the world of good but getting a final check up tomorrow.”

Natalie continued: “The cast, and you guys have been so wonderful and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you also to Artem Chihvintsev who was a tower of strength and so understanding.

“Gutted not to dance Artem’s jive but so thankful that there’ll be others xxx”

Next week Strictly Come Dancing is on Saturday 16th November at 6.30pm and will be live from Blackpool, with the results show on Sunday 17th November at 7.15pm on BBC One and BBC One HD.

I'm sorry but that stinks. She was having trouble with it in training (see her blog) and now she's just bypassed it to get to Blackpool.

Oh please - even if she was having "trouble" with the jive in training do you think there's ANY chance she would have gone home this week if she was able to dance? Keep in mind that she would have been in the dance off against either Dave or Mark.

I fully believe her fainting was entirely involuntary, and that she was forbidden to dance as a result. It's an unfortunate circumstance, but I think out of her control, and I don't think she benefited at all by it.

So you think she would have lost a dance off to Dave?

Didn't say that.

I think she would have made a right pigs ear of it, having only managed 2/3 of the routine each time in final rehearsals. She's avoided the chance of looking a complete numpty.

Imagine the uproar if Dave had pulled this stunt!

... or if someone took a sickie on Semi-Final week... ??

The rule just doesn't make sense. In every other sport/competition in the world, if a player gets injured, or withdraws for any reason - the OTHER person gets the "bye", not the injured party! Imagine a tennis match... if the INJURED person got a free pass to the next round!!?? Bonkers...

In SCD - they should give EVERYONE a free pass to next week, if someone can't perform due to injury. Then either have a double eviction the following week (if injured person comes back) or just a standard one person leaving... that way contestant numbers are preserved.
If Nat pulls out now, we'll be one short for the final
(but at least it will be a more interesting final, I suppose)

I'm gutted for Dave - it was his dream to get to Blackpool - he was TOTALLY robbed in that Dance Off. His performance in that one dance was miles ahead of Mark.
Darcey should be ashamed of herself. The whole nation knew what she was about to say... and I'll bet you the producers were screaming in her earpiece, "NO!!!! You can't say 'based on past performances'..."... so she stopped dead in her tracks.
BUT, in that case - she should then have realised her mistake (and the RULES!) and voted for Dave, but no - she stuck with Mark, despite it being obvious she knew he danced far worse.

Poor old Artem. I've just been watching all the old Kara vids on youtube... he looks about 20 years younger, and a million times happier. His nose looks a little different too...

Oh dear OP - you will certainly have `an egg on face moment` if she performs her jive in Blackpool

Not a fan of Natalie <just can't warm to her > but I was looking forward to her jive so I do hope we get to see it at some point.

Although I have to wonder how she'll cope when it gets down to two routines per week if she's pushing herself to exhaustion now.

If she's that much of a perfectionist she's making herself ill someone needs to have a word with her and tell her it's not worth it !

I suspect if she were to do the jive in Blackpool, those for whom she can do no right would soon be all over these boards complaining that it was unfair as she'd had two weeks to perfect the dance compared to everyone else's one.

Well, that is something that you haven't managed, with this idiotic, and mean spirited thread.

I hope she gets to do the missed jive as one of her finals night dances. Just to show the nay sayers how wrong they are.

I thought the jive looked wonderful in the training footage, like it was going to be really impressive.

I honestly can't see anyone with as much dance training and experience as Natalie has fluffing up the jive. She would have danced it superbly just as she dances every dance superbly.

I still won't be voting for her though!

This thread is hilarious and I needed the laugh after having to sit through Saturday night.

Natalie's "pig's ear" is everyone else's brilliant, so meh, I think she would have been extraordinary, but it's a moot point.

I do love how fascinated the OP is with Natalie when he doesn't like her. I have no interest in Fiona as a dancer, so therefore I know nothing about her, I have no interest in reading about her and wouldn't dream about starting threads about her.

I knew this was you without even looking OP. You've officially moved into troll territory - well done.

I like Natalie and I am sure there are doctors involved in SCD and a doctor will know if a faint is real or not!! Poor Girl, she must have been horrified not to make the Show. She cannot help being ill. Remember when Marie Osmond fainted on Dancing with the Stars, the Show is intensive and I do not know if she is working as well as rehearsing for SCD as I do not watch the Soaps!!

I don't think she is.

Ashley, Susanna are not sure about any of the others.

There have been a number of instances in her blog of feeling unwell, tired, in pain etc indeed there is one of her having fainted the Sunday after the back incident (quickstep weekend). That says to me that she clearly has been in this sort of difficulty for quite some time.

Ridiculous. She's the last one of all the celebs to have to worry about any dance.

Yet she's still pushing and pushing herself

Really?
Something's obviously not right with her.

She was really struggling so much with her jive that, had she danced, so it would only have been great on the night, instead of her normal brilliant!

I'm sure she was struggling with the stamina and fitness elements of training considering her injuries. Natalie has always been self-deprecating in her blogs. She said her Rumba training was tough and look how that turned out.

Nasty and unnecessary thread.
