Natalie Gumede (Strictly Come Dancing 2013)

I'm sorry but that stinks. She was having trouble with it in training (see her blog) and now she's just bypassed it to get to Blackpool. ”

Did you see ITT on Friday, where John Barrowman predicted that she would leave in a fortnight!
Maybe he knows more than he's letting on!

I do remember Monkseal... twas every thus with the bye... but as soon as I heard it was Natalie (wasn't watching the show live) I just knew what the fallout would be like.

In regards to lets have a bye what would you have done with the results show on Sunday. It gets the highest rating of the night. No way will the BBC give that up.

I find the vitriol on here quite shocking sometimes as well.

My friend was there on Saturday and he said Natalie looked really ill and the fainting was really bad and shocked everyone there. I'm not really a huge fan of hers either, I probably wouldn't vote for her but I find her and Artem's dancing stunning and she is extremely talented.

I just wonder what dramatic stunt she will pull for the sympathy vote just before the final.

Bracing myself for a barrage of comments because I deemed to say something negative about Natalie.

Battening down the hatches as I type this.

Wait for it ............................. Go

Poor Natalie has that many knockers she will look like the goddess Artemis of Ephesus - bit of a challenge for wardrobe.

Natalie could have come out on Saturday and danced a Gangnam/Conga fusion and still have been the best thing about the show.

i doubt she would want to fake something like that as it would affect her employability and access to life/medical insurance

but reading some of the reports on her fainting spells I'm beginning to wonder if she could be epileptic with the stress of training etc triggering early symptoms (I had a schoolmate with a similar condition)

I have absolutely NO TIME for Natalie IMO she should not be in the competition but I don't think having a "bad week" would have done her any harm.

Why isnt she given a few days off to recover - then she could still do her Jive this week but people couldn't complain that she has had extra days to practice. Its a shame to put in all that hard work and then not to perform it. I felt the shame with Patrick, the Salsa looked really good but we never got to see what it would have been like with all the lifts.

Im sure Natalie can do her Jive in the final, if she gets there.

Yes, without question, she has danced before and is very good already.

But, to vilify her (same with DVO and others) for being so good, is both unkind and pointless.

The same as when people vilify personally those who are poor beyond belief for being in the show 'at the expense of better dancers'.

When people vilify personally these people, they are aiming their ire at the wrong people entirely.

If any of us were to be offered the gig, and we knew we were either very good or probably very bad, we'd still take it if it were to be offered!

And so to me, it is the producers/PTB of the show to whom complaints must be made if you wish to not have their ilk on the show, not them personally.

The people who appear to have received the most public ire this year are Natalie. Dave and Mark.

Each one of those people will have feelings, and be affected by the utter bile that has been spewed their way.

I do not know, but would not be surprised, if Natalie found it all too much and was desperately working and working and working to try and show improvement on an already very good base, to show people that she was not here on a ride. And the effect of doing that is clearly exhaustion.

As I say, I do not know that is the case, but I do know that she appears to be a lovely girl who, like all of us, at times would like people's support and approval, and is trying hard to justify her existence on the show because of the naysayers.

I'm so sorry that this year has been particularly so full of bitterness.

I am someone who loves pure dancing, but I had to learn, and to realise, that the show is an entertainment show as well, and consequently we all benefit from having ALL types of people on the show - really good dancers, middle roaders on a journey, plain old terrible, and then wilfully comedic contestants. And that makes the show what it is. Something for everyone there - we can make our choice as to what we like, and vote or have our favourites accordingly. No need to personally vilify those people.

I'd love her to recover, and to win! Gutted to have missed the Proud Mary jive and so hope she can continue in the competition firstly on health reasons, and secondly to be voted through, so that we might be lucky enough to see it.

It seems she, and both Dave and Mark, couldn't/can't win no matter what they did/do.

Get well soon Natalie, whatever the cause.”

What a great reply to my post, I agree with every word and only wish I could put it as eloquently as you have

Exactly. Any contestant who needs it can have ONE bye prior to the semi final. After that - Tough.

It's not a matter of whether or not you're criticising Natalie, it's about facts.

FACT: she fainted twice, in front of witnesses so it's not a stunt, she couldn't even stand up afterwards, a medic was called and the medic declared her unfit to dance
FACT: it was the producers' decision, based the rules of Strictly (byes have happened in the past, after all) that she get a bye last week and continue next week; if she's still not well enough to continue, she won't get another bye and she'll be out the competition

Natalie didn't pull a stunt and it wasn't her decision to give her a bye. Viewers don't need to like Natalie, they don't need to support her, they don't even need to like the fact that she's doing Strictly if that's the way they feel, but it would be nice if people would try to be fair towards her.

She's going to down a bottle of syrup of ipecac and projectile vomit everywhere right in the middle of her Argentine Tango.

If she manages to hit both Bruce and Len, she gets 40 votes from me. (Just the one and it goes down to 10.)

Sorry but some of the posts on here are too obviously provocative to be responded to seriously.

It's the public vote that could be her problem. As numbers of contestants drops and the others improve then the public vote will become more important.

That is a very good idea & one I was thinking about myself too. Let her have today & tomorrow to rest, plus feed her some pies. (I'm betting she's not eating enough, as well as over-working). Then we can see the jive; it looked fantastic on ITT in training.

She is a very statuesque woman & probably wants to be more "petite" for her show-lifts in the final (after the Lisa Snowdon fiasco who can blame her).

It's pretty obvious unless she goes out through illness, none of the judges are going to vote against her in a dance-off; unless she faints again or badly cocks it up in some way!

I hope Artem choreographs something beautiful for her show-dance & not some sort of hideous, gymnastic ugliness .

I don't think she'll win, as she is missing the "J" word but I hope she makes it to the end .
