Natalie Gumede has said she’s devastated after missing Saturday night’s latest Strictly Come Dancing live show.

The Corrie star was ruled out of the weekend’s performances after fainting twice during rehearsals.

She was due to perform a jive to Proud Mary by Tina Turner with pro dance partner Artem Chihvintsev.

As per the rules of Strictly, Natalie was given a ‘bye’ through to next week and the show continued with a public vote, that saw Dave Myers leave the competition.

Taking to Twitter yesterday, Natalie thanked her fans for their support over the weekend.

“So deeply touched by your messages. Thank you so very much,” she said. “Was devastated not to dance yesterday but so thankful to be given the chance to dance again.

“I think we’re looking at exhaustion and sleep is doing the world of good but getting a final check up tomorrow.”

Natalie continued: “The cast, and you guys have been so wonderful and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you also to Artem Chihvintsev who was a tower of strength and so understanding.

“Gutted not to dance Artem’s jive but so thankful that there’ll be others xxx”

Next week Strictly Come Dancing is on Saturday 16th November at 6.30pm and will be live from Blackpool, with the results show on Sunday 17th November at 7.15pm on BBC One and BBC One HD.

I'm sorry but that stinks. She was having trouble with it in training (see her blog) and now she's just bypassed it to get to Blackpool. ”

I find your cynicism takes the biscuit even in the cynical world of fon-line forums. Why would the best contestant in the competition fake an illness to get a bye? - she doesn't need to - even if she underperformed by her standards and didn't get the public vote for some reason - she'd still be saved by the judges in a DO. Perhaps you have it the wrong way round and she didn't 'become' ill because she was struggling but was struggling in training because she was starting to come down with something during the week or it aggrevated an illness she already had - lets face the jive is a pretty tiring dance. It's pretty damn obvious she was actually ill on Saturday.

Oh poor you - unfairly critised for slating a talented but obviously unwell contestant - as Bananarama once sang 'it ain't what you do' except actually it is what you do was well

Perhaps their chosen couple are not doing as well as expected. So they are lashing out at Natalie because they cannot bear to see their favoured one eclipsed.

I'm not a massive fan of Natalie, i just have not warmed to her but I think that her dancing is great and I was so looking forward to seeing her jive and now it looks like we won't get to see it. If she was to do it in Blackpool it would be unfair because she would have had two weeks training at the side of everyone else who will have only had the normal week.

The rule of the bye is that she has to learn a new dance for that very reason that it would be unfair otherwise for having two weeks to learn a new dance instead of one.

gosh, there's some over reacting on this thread to what is possibly a slightly tongue in cheek OP, or at the very least a fairly laughable one...

as far as i know,m there's nothing actually wrong with the girl except that she somehow managed to over do it and not get enough sleep.

there's no need to observe a pious silence around the topic, and TBF i'm not suprised some people are pee'd off. letting yourself get in a state is a poor excuse for any adult to turn in for failing to meet their employment duties..

Tongue in cheek I don't think so that is all I have say as I promised myself that I would not rise to the bait.

BIB 1 Yes, that's right, you don't know, but hey just go ahead and have a go!
BIB 2 Zero chance of that with the Natalie detractors.

I really thought that Natalie would have a quiet tenure as Strictly Official Ringer of 2013 but the tenacity and imagination of people who want to find fault with her has amazed me.

well, i am going on her own tweet, and reports that she's back in training today, but i understand you might not be confident in those sources as lets face it she's shown little ability to judge her own fitness so far...

You really dislike the poor girl. What on earth has she done to get to you? Is it just her existence?

i think its entirely reasonable to expect performers to manage their own health appropriately and turn out for the audience. she hasn't been ill, she' s been over doing it.

i neither like nor dislike her, and you won't find any unpleasant posts about her from me. i think my comments are reasonable and reasonably expressed.

well, if not tongue in cheek, then clearly laughable as natalie has shown she has no need to fear any dance.

i too would like to see it - with a bit of luck it could be recycled or incorporated into a semi/final dance

You're obviously the expert in these things. She has been ill however.

she said in her tweet she was tired and lacking sleep. thats not an 'illness'

although i am sure it is to office workers everywhere when they have been caning it and are consequently too knackered to go to work.

however, it wouldn't go down well at the opera house, i can tell you.

So when she fainted on Saturday and, on medical advice, the producers forbade her to dance, that was her fault for 'not managing her own health', was it? Jeez, this attitude would sort out all those queues in A&E up and down the country, wouldn't it? Just send everybody home and tell them to manage their own health.

Then you know very little about opera houses and the temperamental singers who are notoriously bad at managing their own health, unless, of course, you're actually Antonio Pappano in disguise...

Have modern opera singers got the wrong attitude?
