Finally sat my bott down long enough to join in.
Ah. Yorkshire tea.

Favourites

Celeb - Mark. Because he's Mark and he's making good TV.

Pro - Karen. 100% committed to Dave and a fab dancer, especially in Latin.
And she's filling a little bit of the hole left by Flavia. Big hole though. Hugeymongous.

Couple - Mark and Iveta personality / Patrick and Anya on the dancefloor.

Judge - Darcey - I want her stylist. She gives good guidance. Tactful and enjoying her job, which shows.

Presenter - Cheer for Bruce and his crap jokes from me. Tess's mad pointy finger and inability to stand on both legs for more than 5 seconds stops her winning. Positive-avoid yellow. She looks great.
And i do like Claudia. She looks like a puffin. Love puffins.

Not so favourites

Celeb - it's the ever smiley Fiona with a head as giddy as mine before I remember my tablets.
She makes me nervous when she dances. Positive-I like goats too xx

Pro - honest, everyone I type, I have to delete again because there's circumstance in the mix. Tis hard. Will say Janette because she has a different style than I'm used to. She looks the odd one out in the groups. Positive-she tried hard with Julien and made a great team.

Couple - Fiona & Anton. All a bit limp and wishy washy.
Positive-they keep laughing, so good on them. I like laughing.

Judge/Presenter - No least favourite. They can all get on my wick sometimes, but I like this lot, warts grumps and all.
Teachers pet me (halo smiley)

PS - least favourite shoes - all the white ones. Ban them all

Finally!

On a completely random note, didn't Russell Grant go out on the day when he celebrated his birthday (on CiN/Wembley week)?

I hope this is not an omen for Mark (birthday, CiN/Blackpool week)...

Crikey chief!!!! You is right.

I dabbed a tear when Dave left.
I'll blub a puddle if Mark's next.

I actually don't mind theme weeks, it's the cringey VTs that accompany them that bother me. In fact, in general I think the VTs need a bit of an overhaul - I miss the old style where it was mostly about their training and tbh, I found the unscripted stuff in the training footage much funnier than most of the scripted stuff we get now.

I think what I would like as opposed to full on theme weeks is maybe all the couples have a theme group dance (with them all doing the same choreography on the floor at once) to happen more often. I always thought that would assist celebs let down by bad luck in terms of dance or pro partner (ie Anton.)

Any thoughts?”

It is a house band and singers. They, by and large, make a good stab at mimicking the original, the band is especially good at that. I'll make allowances for the singers, they after all, have to mimick something which is unique.

The musicians that make up the band are probably, more often than not, more talented with respect to playing than those they are copying. One thing that might be different is that the band may not have the creativity of the original artists.

What the band and singers have to do/learn/read/interpret in a short space of time is pretty smart.

It is just a shame that frequently, the music/song they play is just not right for the dance or dancers. Whose fault that is, I don't know. I'd like an official announcement on that from the SCD team.

Favourite Celeb: Keeping an eye on Fiona, Mark and Sophie most weeks to see how they are doing.

Favourite Pro (overall): Don't have one.

Favourite Couple: As above with respective pro partners.

Least Favourite Celeb: They all seem likeable enough.

Least Favourite Pro (overall): James/Ola/Robin. Dull, bland choreography in all dances. James is good at the Rumba.

Least Favourite Couple: Don't really have one, maybe Ben and Kristina. He can't dance and is overmarked. She dances around him or gets flung around like a rag doll. She's always seems so desperate. Both seem likeable enough though.

Least Favourite Pro (this week): This takes a lot for me to say because I adore her; Iveta. Really let Mark down badly with the Rumba.

Favourite Pro (this week): The rest did a pretty good job. Maybe Anya.

Agree with pretty much everything here - especially the BIB - I think by and large the band do a good job with what they are given to work with.

I love that. Kevin & Karen have insane chemistry when they dance. Alijaz is a wonderful dancer, but for some reason I had a hard time taking him seriously there though...his face was distracting me, and not in the good way it usually distracts me. Lol

Lucky lucky people who saw BttF this year with half of the strictly cast in it - every clip I've seen from the show looks like it was amazing.

I genuinely don't give a shit who wins, who is in the dance off, who is under or over marked or who goes out........I just love watching SCD! I have opinions, but not strong ones so feel a liitle lost on the board, I have no home as I neither particularly appreciate or unappreciate anything enough. Might camp here.

Did you see Janette and possibly Kristina in there as well?

Thoughts on the training clips on ITT

Natalie - looks amazing as usual

Sophie - I am worried if they couldn't find any decent clips to show, she looked to be struggling.

Susanna - I think this is going to be a good one for her, she looked good in the clip

Fiona - that lift didn't look brilliant, I think this one is either going to be good or look a bit old fashioned (if you see what I mean)

Patrick - I find this one hard to call, I am not sure I agree with Ian that Patrick is better at Latin, I have enjoyed his last 2 ballroom better.

Ashley - this one will be down to training time I think.

Abbey - will be a good one I think but might be a bit too fast for her

Mark - so hard to call I hope it's fun & he enjoys it as I don't think he enjoyed the last two weeks

Ben - a good dance for them as he will be great at the lifts.

The bottom 2 is going to be interesting this week I think.

Love the idea (and challenge) of this thread, thanks!
My faves are also subject to regular change but these are my thoughts 'this minute!

Fave celeb - Ben, I'm a sucker for a sportsman way 'out of his comfort zone' yet trying his best + so obviously enjoying himself.

Fave pro - Brendan. Although he's more gentle these days I loved him in his 'bad boy' days, extra lifts, arguing with the judges etc. I think it was his unpredictability that appeals.

Favourite couple Abby + Alijaz. Beautiful to look at, well matched, decent dances, danced decently

Least Favourites

Least Favourite celeb Natalie. She is undeniably talented,
For my tastes her facial expressions appear too OTT but I do hope she's able to compete this week without further compromising her health

Least Favourite pro (overall): Anton. For some reason he irritates me. But pop him into tails + a classic ballroom dance + he's in his element.

Least Favourite couple Mark + Iveta. Too many 'joke/characterised' dances to be able to clearly see any improvements he may have made. However they seem to be thoroughly enjoying the whole experience, including their time together

Theme weeks... I think they're a little unimaginative. Why not have really mind-expanding weeks eg sensory deprivation week -- dance without music, dance where one of the dancers is blindfolded, dance where you can't touch but are connected by ribbons, for example... Could be strange and beautiful and thought-provoking. A dance for the blind with bells on ankles and wrists.

Or (I want this too much. It'll never happen) Animal Week: we could have Louis Prima, oo be doo, I wanna be like you-oo-oo (again), totemic dances , There are loads of songs that mention animals. It'd be different.

I think it was wazzyboy on another thread who suggested themes by decade -- a terrific idea.

They've done that with decades on DWTS & it works quite well
