One awful joke is enough and then Strictly is never watched again. It's just my experience. It doesn't prove much apart from that the people who don't watch it for the dancing will need a good compere if they're going to watch it for entertainment.

We just ignore him when he comes on - it's putting the kettle on, having a chat, quick check of emails, whatever, time - and then once he's finished we're back to see what we actually watch the show for, ie the dancing and the judging. But, tellingly, we watch all the way through when he's not there and it's Tess and Claudia, because we actually enjoy watching them. Imagine that!
