You can now pre order via Currys/PC World.
But only the WiFi models it seems. Unless the 4G ones aren't showing on the mobile site.

I am sure it will be an excellent tablet and if you buy from apple you can easily return it even if opened and used if you don't like it. I think it may go out of stock fairly quickly as a lot of people want one for Christmas.
I have decided I'm going to wait for the Christmas and New Year sales and see if anyone has any decent deals on it.

If it's the iPad you are after it's very unlikely as they sell well so no need to discount them and Apple never like them to be sold off cheap either.

Well BOTH Currys and Tesco have been allowed to get away with money off deals! Both are £30 for £300+ but the Currys one rises to £50 at £500+

As the money off includes "iPads" it WILL include the retina-mini (for any that they get!)

I've been wanting a iPad mini for a while now but thought I'd wait for the new one to come out. Just need to put my 3rd generation iPad up for sale and then I'll place my order. I'm real a sucker for the latest gadget.

On another forum, someone claims they bought one today from the Apple Store at Brent Cross.

You can reserve one for store collection from 6am tomorrow.

Hmmm iPad Mini or iPad Air? I've just ordered an Ipad Air 32Gb but it won't be available for a couple of weeks so should I cancel and go for the Mini? hard choice as I used a £50 voucher for the Air plus will get £28 quidco, so the Air is only costing £401 so only £2 more than a Mini.

I would keep the air it has more usability for reading newspapers and magazines and will have a higher resale value than the mini when you upgrade eventually. It depends what you use your iPad for the air suits my needs better than a mini.

I'm shocked the retina mini can still be ordered still in 1-3 business days for the 16gb and 32gb models. I thought the delivery times would have been much longer already for all models. The higher capacity minis and cellular ones are 5-10 business days though. Perhaps demand is not as high as expected or maybe people are waiting till pay day to buy one.

I hope everyone who has bought a mini enjoys it.

Or perhaps talk of shortages combined with the soft-launch is all an Apple ploy to drive sales.

Cynical? Moi?

The launch has been incredibly low key. I've been watching the tech websites every day, and I nearly missed it.

The mini 2 will likely be a popular Xmas present, so it's the longer term stock that might be an issue.

I was pondering whether to cancel my Apple order and order from PC World instead and get £30 cash back. But I've had a bad experience in the past with deliveries from PC World (cash back can be a pain too). Oh well too late now. Apple have just sent me a dispatch email. ETA 20th Nov - it's probably coming direct from China.

Just been checking the reserve and pickup and it looks like Apple stores are out of stock of the iPad now, not really much of a surprise as they only released 16gb/32gb wifi models.

No, I've just been to Aberdeen to pick up a 32GB Wi-Fi/4G model from the Apple store there. So I think all models were shipped.

My main uses will be comics and magazine reading, surfing the net and the odd rpg or strategy game at home so I think you're right the bigger screen will be an asset especially as reading reviews the air isn't that much bigger/heavier.

Argos now have them to order to collect between two and four days in my area depending on the store. PC Wolrld are offering pay and collect at 5pm tomorrow. Wondering if these options could change during the day. For example could Argos get their stock earlier than expected and then change to pick up tomorrow?

Unless you are desperate why not go for Currys/PC World? (and I cannot believe I just said that!)!

With these two you are going to get some cashback in December (£30 or £40 normally - depends on purchase price).
