Last time on Battle Of The Seasons, we came back with a bang as the new crop of the top 16 all sang live for the first time and it was anything goes, whilst some got off to a great start, others felt the pressure at the starting gate, but in the end, it was a nightmare for the 2009 class as Duane Lamonte and Lucie Jones left the competition. Tonight, get ready to go back in time as we take you all the way back to the 90's, so expect some nostalgia performances this evening and I love this decade by the way!

So let's introduce you the judges and the remaining 14 acts!

yohinnchild & The 2008 Class

Now before we start, I forgot to tell you all that I have a TWIST for later tonight and you'll have to wait and find out what it is at the end of the show, for now though, let's enjoy the show! Judges, can you confirm your presence, please!

Let's start with the 2013 class and they're so into you (Run boys, run! ), it's Miss Dynamix!

Girls, last week you really impressed us but this week I feel quite disappointed in that performance. It sounded a little flat and not quite as exciting as last weekís performance was. I know it was 90s Night, but I donít know if you quite achieved taking us back effectively.

Mystery Judge's Comment
Miss Dynamix
Girls, this was a decent start to the show. It felt pretty dated, but it was always going to be considering the nature of the theme. What I am disappointed about is your mentor picking a song by a nineties girl group. I would have liked your mentor to do something more unpredictable and surprise everyone, it would have made your performance a lot more interesting as it was a little dull tonight.

Girls, well done for kicking off the second live show! I want to see you girls do well in this series as I do think youíve got 3 exceptional voices within the group. However that song didnít really command a leading vocal and it was too laid back to make a full impression for me. Your previous song was a bit the same and I want you to come out and differentiate yourselves a bit more from generic ríníb and come out and really show off your voices a bit more. I think dependent on how many are due to be eliminated you could be in trouble tonight.

I thought that this was a nice way of opening up the show, what a lovely 90s track! You took me right back to the 90s which is what the theme is meant to do. Your vocals were also pretty and it was a nice way of showing off your harmonies. The only thing Iíd say, itís a small thing, the tones were a little off each other and there wasnít much dynamic but Iíve got to give credit to Pingu that it was a nice 90s song and was right in the spirit of the theme.

Just saw your post, Pingu, sure, feel free to catch up later.

So we start with a mixed reception for the 2013 girl group, could they be in trouble later tonight?

First of the 2008 class and she says just be good to her, it's Suzie Furlonger!

Suzie Ferlonger
Suzie, that was a good performance from you tonight. Your voice sounded really good and it also didnít really feel that dated as the song has been rereleased recently which you used to your advantage really well. Youíre definitely still on the same calibre as last week, so keep it up and keep getting better too!

Mystery Judge's Comment
Suzie Furlonger
Isn't this a cover of another song? Either way, I am not sure about this. I really liked the song you sang last week, it was a very memorable performance. This week's performance is a definite step down from that though, I do not think I will remember this at the end of the show if I am honest.

Youíve got this wonderful deep vocal and itís strong too, and I would love to be good to you but with this kind of song I think itís going to be a tad difficult. You are a soul singer and the kind which can really put attitude and emotion into a song. However, this didnít do that for me. Itís quite a soft song with no sudden bursts of soul/changes in dynamic. Again this feel like authentic 90s and in terms of suitability, itís a great choice but I donít think it suited the emotional soul, dynamic crazy artist I know you are.

To answer 'Mystery Judges' question it is a cover of a 90's song released by Deborah Cox in the mid 90's so double 90's performance from Suzie tonight! An amazing performance tonight from you Suzie and one that shows a different side to you after the more uptempo side of last week. For me you've got the voice, the performance skills and it was good to see you sing something more slowed down. You got good support last week and I hope that continues tonight as you are an amazing performer and act to mentor!

Suzie gets a tiny drop of praise from last week, but will she have the chance to come back stronger?

First of the 2010 class next and if you love her, say it, do it, show it and prove it (I couldn't resist folks. ) It's Keri Arrindell!

Keri, this performance was pretty good from you. Like Suzie, your vocals sounded good and your benefited from a modern revival of the song by a more current artist. However, I think that this song was quite different to last week and Iíd just like to see a firm direction that your mentor is wanting to take you.

Mystery Judge's Comment
Keri Arrindel
I liked you last week Keri, but like Suzie I have been left a little disappointed by you tonight. While the song was interesting and suited you in parts, it did not really feel like you if you know what I mean. The direction your mentor is taking you in is interesting though, so I hope your mentor can deliver a standout performance with a song from the same genre some other time.

The words for you Keri are interesting and different and I think that you are going to do very well in this competition. The song was different to a lot of songs performed on tonight's show and that will put you in good stead in the voting. The tone of your voice is quite specific and I was worried to begin with if Roxie would be able to find songs to really suit you and she has delivered twice now. An interesting song choice and another good performance from you tonight so well done and good luck in the voting.

Keri that was stunning. Suitability-wise, youíve got a very soft soulful vocal (as Mystery Judge pointed out last week) and so I wanted to do something more soft with your vocal and I think it worked. And so I gave you the Jessie Ware cover of this amazing Brownstone song which is a bit less soulful and bit more soft. But Jessie's vocal is still likened as modern soul so you've still stuck to my direction! This version of the song also has an amazing build-up to the chorus which is just wonderful to listen to. And it still keeps to that lovely calm, sweet 90s mood. Well done honey doll!

So Keri is able to impress half of the panel, but it's up to the public if they agree or not.

Back to the 2008 class and it's late in the day for him (shouldn't that be early in the night?), it's Austin Drage!

Stage Note - Austin will be playing guitar throughout this song (as I've found he can on some Youtube videos)

Austin, last week you were a very pleasant surprise but tonight I think that slipped a little bit. Your voice didnít sound anywhere near as good as it did previously and I think the raw acoustic performance was very unflattering as it kind of exposed your bad bits. I hope you can get it back next week because you were very much a joy to watch last week but it felt a little awkward tonight.

Mystery Judge's Comment
Austin Drage
I told your mentor that I would like to hear a more smooth vocal from you last week, something he has not taken on board unfortunately. I just do not think these vocals with a slightly rough edge to them are working for you, I am still waiting for a performance similar to Billie Jean which you sang on The X Factor. Tonight's performance was far from terrible though, so I am sure your mentor will get another chance to impress me.

I wanted to try something a little bit different with you this week and having gone through some of your previous performances and other acoustic performances thought this would be a good choice for you. The vocals were superb and I love the thick tone you have to your voice. I loved the acoustic side to you and it isnít something that should be used for every performance, however wanted to show what you can do and show you doing something a little bit different. You did well in the voting last week and I hope that this continues this week; youíve got a great voice and I hope you get the support this evening.

As much as I love rough men but was this not a bit rough for your pop rock vocal? I thought Alex Clareís deep vocal does suit you wonderfully so but Supergrass are slightly higher and more harsh rock for that deep but still pop vocal. Genre-wise I can see what youíre doing here but I would prefer it if Austin did slightly lower key softer rock songs because that suits the vocal better? I do think it was a nice song and again made for a LOVELY and sexy 90s performance.

Austin gets a mixed reception there, a lot of that happening as well it seems tonight.

Up next is the 2009 class and for you they will (they will what?), it's the bottom three survivors, Miss Frank!

Girls, after a very pop week last week I think you benefited from this R&B performance this week. You girls have great voices individually and when you harmonize itís absolutely heart stopping. You really captured the 90s tonight and I hope that everybody else agrees. Hopefully, we can see you back again next week because thereís much more to come from Miss Frank!

Mystery Judge's Comment
Miss Frank
You were in the bottom 3 last week, which I was not surprised by at all if I am honest. This week, you were much better. I expected your mentor to pick a random girl group song like Miss D's mentor did, but instead you surprised me with this beautiful song. It showed off your vocals very well girls, it even had harmonies which is just an added bonus for me. Yes, it was a little dull, but still a million times better than last week. Well done!

After being bottom 3 last week I was expecting you to come out with a killer song and really rock the stage and Iím not really sure that we got that tonight. There were moments of greatness within the song, however ultimately I do think the performance was a little dull; it didnít really go anywhere for me. Gabriella youíve got a very distinctive tone to your voice and have a fantastic rap skill, however I just felt that song fell on the side of bland ríníb. I want more from you girls as you all have 3 great voices but for me that song didnít push on that at all. I think you could possibly be in danger tonight.

I thought that was actually a nice 90s song Jacka! All those runs and the change in dynamic made for a more interesting performance Ė this is exactly what I wanted from Suzieís performance. In terms of suitability, it suited all of your deeper soulful tones really well and this type of song also brought out those lovely thick harmonies you have. Overall I thought it was good.

Well, it's much better comments for Miss Frank than last week, could Jacka's luck be turning around?

Back to the 2010 class and he has a black hole sun (lord knows what that is), it's Storm Lee!
