Dot Cotton in Corrie.
I saw Dot in EastEnders tonight and thought she looked really out of place. Then I had a brainwave - wouldn't it be great if Dot was in Corrie - she could hang out with Rita, Norris, Emily and the rest of the gang.
This is obviously pure fantasy but I think her character would be great in Corrie. |

She was once in Corrie I think. It must have been around 1970 and she was close to Ena Sharples. June played the mother of a son who played the organ. That's all I know for now. I will find out more later tonight when I log off here and report back in the morning

Dot would not be out of place with the likes of Emily and Blanche - the writers could really go to town - her character and Corrie scripts would be a great combination.
However, EastEnders should make the most of her as that soap can't hold a candle to Corrie in the humour stakes, and it does tend to be Dot who gets the most of the funny lines. The real reason June Brown would fit in well in Corrie is the standard of acting in Corrie as always been that much better than EastEnders. She is probably EastEnders best actress, and one of the few who would be upto Corrie standards. |

I hadn't thought of it before but yes, I think she would fit in quite nicely. She does seem sort of out of place- I don't know why, but I guess she would just fit that group well in Corrie!
The could have bible club.

Although yeah- I didn't read the whole post! I wouldn't mock EE around here! It is looking up anyway. The problem was mainly the writers rather than the actors anyway.

Forgive me - I am new to the forum. Is that a genuine comment or are you being ironic? |

They're pretty slow in getting in here though- normally they would have pounced straightaway.

I love Corrie and have watched it faithfully since 1980.
I have watched Eastenders since episode 1 in Feb 1985. I am a genuine fan of both and seen enough to know when the balance swings in favour of one or the other. Corrie is on a high, and has been for 3 years or more. EastEnders has had a longer than normal bad patch but has turned the corner. Room for them both in the schedules !!! |

Eastenders main problem is it is trying too hard to correct the obvious problems it has. Back to basics will work, not shock stories all the time.

I am with you LiverpoolFCGirl - liking one doesn't compromise liking the other.
I hate it when the papers talk of one "taking viewers from the other". It's not like voting - you can enjoy and support them both. Anyway - I bet they have 75%+ of viewers in common at least. |

She would be good for humour because that's all Corrie does. If it came to drama though she would look out of place.

Peter Dean was once in Corrie too, around 1980.
As well as the ones everyone knows about like Gavin Richards (Terry) & Jill Halfpenny (Kate) |

Rofl looks like BCJ has been blitzed!
Other characters: Fizz, Tyrone, Maria, Danny and Kelly I only like the old ones and Liz McDonald. |
