Moving Contacts from one device to another
Hi
I have a number of engineers that have mobiles, and the devices lifespan is quite limited. However the engineers have hundreds of contacts on their mobiles, and the SIM can only save (I think) about 200. I also have different mobiles and smartphones and its becoming a full time job replacing them and moving contacts especially from say a blackberry to an iphone. Is there a device that I can use that I can move the contact from one device to another? I know I can take them into Vodafone and they have a "red box" but its a pain driving there, them sorting it and driving back. Many thanks in advance |

Why not sync the contacts with a online service such as Google or Outlook. They would then be available when you log in with the new phone.

Tried but the blackberry was not having it at all.
Also I am guessing the Google account would have to remain as sync because I did try that and once the contacts on the device were there and I removed the google account the contacts disappeared. |

On Android devices (and I suspect others) you can export/import contacts to a file (on to/from removable storage if available) - for the mobiles you are supplying, wouldn't it be easier to stick to one consistent OS, especially as there are cheap Android handsets out there with removable storage? Surely there are also apps to backup to "The Cloud" or a NAS drive?
They/you could then move the SD card from the old to the new phone and import? |

Save 200 contacts to a sim card. Move the card to a better phone and save them. Then either use another sim card to move another 200 contacts or wipe the original sim card and repeat the first step.
You either need to ensure all contacts are saved to the SD card as default or preferably use a cloud service. |

I can't speak for the iPhone but all the others support .vcf format.

EDIT: I note it's the other way around but it may offer some clues. Common denominator seems to be the iPhone but as I understand it, iCard is a standardised format for storing contact information so if you look for apps that specifically mamage iCard files you may get somewhere. |
