Tommy's Temper

Tommy is agressive and seems prepetually pent up.

All is not right. On Friday, he accused Martin of being a peadiophile. However, I have always suspected Tommy of this.

His anger at Katy and Martin seems obsessive, and I don't think anyone would have been good enough for his little Katy.

There is just something about it that seems to imply he has designs on her himself.

I wonder if that is the intention in the potrayal of the character.

Or maybe he's just being the protective father. Please, no more thoughts of incest in our soaps.

Can't see that to be honest- I think he is just to fiery with his temper to be honest. Being the protective father as BCJ said. He needs to learn to talk (as Angela said just before she slapped Katy)

He acts first, thinks later. The stereotypical father who wants the best for his kids yet goes the wrong way about it.

Could be being called an over protective father.

Edit: Sorry BCJ didn't see your reply. I read the original post & replied before reading the rest, must try harder.

I think any father would be unhappy if his school age daughter started seeing a man close to his own age. I don't think there's anything incestuous there whatsoever.

I don't think so either, but it would give a reason as to why she might stab him -something I still can't quite comprehend considering Tommy is merely a bit too aggresive rather than being a MONSTER, and Katy is a sensible enough girl who wouldn't react like that. It just doesn't add up so far.

Yeah they are going to have to build up to the storyline somehow otherwise it won't ring true at all.

I know he convinces her to have an abortion and likely splits Katie and Martin up over the "affair" with Sally. If Katie found out that it wasn't true and that he knew it wasn't true and that she had lost Martin and killed their unborn child I am sure she would be furious and maybe emotionally unstable. If they then got into a heated argument, just one moment of madness could end up killing him. I am sure quite a lot of arguments in homes turn into full on domestic incidents and actually a teacher who taught me in primary school stabbed her husband to death last year. Apparently they were arguing over something trivial and she literally just flipped. Everyone was stunned and it was all over the Friends Reunited board for the school until they removed it for legal reasons, so it certainly can happen.

Personally I don't any problem with Tommy's views on these situations (which it is not a surprise as a person who has survived five teenagers, God help me!) - where I can't agree with him is in his reactions. Tommy just doesn't seem to see that while he is prating on about morals and education he is simply not practising self-control. Look at what happened when he was so angry at Martin that Craig thought the way to help his father was to tamper with Martin's brakes. What he is actually teaching his children is that it is ok to react with no self-control just because you don't like the way things are going. Parents have to be very careful of the examples they set in terms of how to face and deal with problems and issues - its the process that kids take responsibility for that leads them to the "right" decisions. And face it Tommy just isn't a good example of impulse control!

I agree, and I think it was glaring that Craig and Rosie were very mature about not having sex and it was Tommy who acted immaturely and lashed out. Maybe then Tommy's kids see him as a bad example in how to deal with issues.

Have to say if my husband hit our kid like Tommy did to Craig, he would be out the door and no way would I have him back.

Tommy did well not to punch Martin tonight considering he's Tommy! Has he been having anger management?

I also thought there was something odd about Tommy's mad overprotective obsession with Katy. It don't think it matters that Martin is 20 odd years older than her, whoever it was Tommy would have a problem with it. Remember when Katy lied that she was going out with Tyrone, Tommy didn't like that either and Tyrone is around the same age. I know most Father's are protective over their daughters and rightfully so but Tommy is just obsessed.

it must be like sitting on broken glass living with that guy imagine actually having to come home and spend a night in his company he's actually a self obsessed idiot who reacts to everything as he doesn't want anything to unsettle his own sad routine . he's the sort of person who gets in a huff just to keep everyone in line . got to say the actor should have a monopoly of mr angry parts.
