Thanks mrsgrumpy49. He was a member of our family, and it feels so strange to have him gone. Even though it felt awful at the time, we now realise that we spared him suffering by letting him go when we realised that he had no chance of getting better and that he was just a shell of his former self. xx

My labrador is 15 yrs old now and we are sad because we know it won't be long before he leaves us.
I know I will cry and cry, I can't even bear to think about it. Here's a big hug from me.”
Thank you yellowlabbie. We'll always treasure the memories we had of our dog, and the happiness he gave to us. Hugs to you and your labrador xxx

I remember all those times I wanted to top myself but I couldn't for fear of what would happen to him. He kept me going, I was devastated when I had to put him down but greatful I had him for over 16 years! Never had a dog since though, couldn't go through that again.”
So sorry to hear about both your losses xx

This week we have adopted a Basset Hound crossed with a German shepherd. 9 months old and a real handful. Believe me it does help heal the pain of loss.
All the best.”
Thanks Terry. I'm so sorry to hear of your own loss of Max. That's great that you've adopted a new dog - that's a lovely breed of dog. We've decided to get a new dog in the springtime hopefully - we haven't settled on the breed yet, but I'm hoping it will be another golden lab.

Aw thanks WinterLily... People have been so great with their kind words (including you!), so I just had to express how much these words have helped me at this difficult time. You take care too

Thanks dekaf xx It's a beautiful poem alright. I've saved it and it's very comforting to read it.
