I just moved back home to Newtown in Powys. According to Three I am in an DC-HSDPA area. However the masts only give out a speed of 3Mbits at best. I've already reported it to Three who say the mast is congested and there working on a fix with no time frame. Newtown just got 21CN activated at the end of August and still no improvements and Fibre is on the way by the end of 2014.

Either way BT have just released information about Ethernet Backhaul Direct Nodes being made available soon in my area.

According to the MBNL website there masts run of Ethernet backhaul. Is EBD the technology they run off?

Does this mean the backhaul for the mobile masts will be improved in the area soon?

If not, then will I not see any improvements until the fibre has been rolled out next year?

Don't want to confuse you, but Ethernet can be run over fibre.

It's irrelevant about 21CN at the exchange. Most of the mobile masts will be connected via fibre to the exchange and may have been for years. Some will be using microwave links to a neighbouring mast or occasionally the BT exchange itself.

I thought 21CN probably would be irrelevant and I already knew that Generic Ethernet Access can be done over fibre but thought I would ask the question just in case.
