My ipad 3 charger port isn't working so taking it to the Applestore tomorrow.
How can I back up my photos and music as I can't connect it to my macbook?
Will I lose saved data in my apps eg my appointments are all in the Alarmed app as I prefer it to the native app?

Thanks for any help

Sounds like you need to backup it up to iCloud!!! However for music and photos which have been downloaded TO the iPad from your Mac it won't need to (and won't!) back these up at all. AFAIK it only backups new photos taken using the iPad's camera (or a Camera Connector dongle). It also won't backup Apps themselves - as they can be reloaded from the App Store.

An iCloud backup will do all app data - for example from Alarmed - as well.

Thanks! Turned out to be an academic question as Blue T Shirt said the phone support warranty guy was wrong and that the old £79 extended warranty AppleCare doesn't cover any accidental damage.
So I wait until it's unusable, then use as a frisbee.
Applestore Genius bars make me extremely stressed.....
