Will win pretty easily I would suspect.

Probably needed someone else current as the youngsters will vote for him in droves.

Joey Essex is nowhere near the nice but dim fool he pretends to be. I have a lot of friends around Brentwood and everyone who has come across him says the same thing, yes rude, arrogant, ignorant and uses ' do you know who I am' without a hint of irony.
Hopefully, he'll get found out

He has a strong advantage (young males always do)....but you can't count out the fanbases of soapstars or sportstars either.

He'll certainly make the final at the very least.

The old timer sports star usually does well Bristow was quality last year.

When all is said and done, he will get judged by the content on the show. So fan base is irrelevant. Ashley Roberts being a good example who I still think should have won.

I suppose but Ashley Roberts was never going to beat charley brooks due to the eastenders fan base.

Female line up seems a bit dud on first glance

She came very close, that final was really close. I think she was actually winning until half way into the final.

Agreed about the female line up. However I do think Lucy Pargeter and Rebecca Adlington could have a shot at winning the show.

To be fair, none of the Towie cast ended up winning their reality shows (Mark on this, Amy Childs and a few guys on Celebrity Big Brother). He'll inevitably do well and will probably eat up airtime, but I don't think it's a dead cert at all!

Casual viewer here, but Alfonso Ribeiro is what's gonna make me properly tune in this year.. feel like it may be the same for a lot of people in their early 20s.

You need only to look at how that video of Will Smith on Graham Norton went viral to see how much of a cult figure Carlton Banks/ Ribeiro is.

That said, he could turn out to be boring as sin once he's there..

it set up with a contrast between someone is famous for being the best in the world at what they do, after years of effort and training - and a TOWIE star who has no ability, or use, at all and makes more for being themselves being obnoxious. Its a nice commentary on how we have things very wrong.

I'd image that they're still going to be an advantage to the celebrities who have big ones. Fanbases I mean.

If Ashley Roberts had the largest fanbase going in there then I reckon she would have walked it.
Fanbases are still going to be a large factor in how well supported a celebrity is. It doesn't mean that it will make them win, but it is a factor that's going to help.

I wouldn't put him as the winner just yet. He has a big fan base but the soap stars also have the eastenders/emmerdale vote. Then there's Rebecca with the Olympic vote (which some people are still not over). Also I wouldn't rule out Alfonso, I know this site isn't representative of the public but a lot of people have been saying that they don't usually watch but will now he's in it.

EE fan base was irrelevant IMO - she only beat Ashley because of Kiki... And she only did it by less than 1% anyway

Joey Essex will probably have as much haters as he will people who love him. Although who is to say, he could turn out to be utterly loved or utterly hated.

This will be good to see the real Joey, as while Rylan,Charlotte were easy favourites in CBB we kinda knew their real personalities already as GS isnt as scripted as TOWIE, and obviously we were aware of Rylan, who knows Joey could end up being as dull as Mark Wright.

Probably as they are more down to earth than the fake TOWIE lot, I still wish they would have offered Vicky from GS a place.
