whilst finding excuses not to study I came across some video clips for Dancing with the Stars Argentina (Bailando por un Sueño) OMG

from wiki article
Quote:
“On the contest, a non-celebrity "dreamer" (man or woman) who in addition must be an amateur dancer, is accompanied by a celebrity in dance routines in which they have to demonstrate their skills in various styles such as: Tango, Chacarera, Salsa, Merengue, Flamenco, Rock and roll, Disco, Hip-Hop, Axé, Charleston and most recently Pole dance, Strip dance and Adagio”

Not wanting to watch those clips, surely they can't be from the SCD format? Because they would be sued if they turn such recognisable format into smut (your clue of it not being suitable for children meant it can't be an SCD format to start with).

The BBC did take legal action against Argentina's television for using the name but having such an adult content (as the clips show, the woman get naked, the man rubs his face against her bosoms, and all the rest of it)

I'm not a prude by any means but I've seen some of those routines and woah . It's like simulated sex on the dance floor, one time one contestant was practically naked on the dancefloor, .....it baffles me really !

Or maybe dancing has a different meaning over there , just joking . I find it quite hard to believe that it's the same bbc format. Yes I know that each country has its own interpretation but still

Very strange. The only similarity for me is that the presenter feels the need to add his own comments like our Brucie.

Perhaps Vanessa would have more success on that show? "I'm sure she'd be up for it."

Is the first clip a glimpse of Kristina's routine for Ben this week?

Also, is one of the judges Cher with her facelift melting.

Dr Pammie would eat her pro partner alive.

I'm not sure the first clip is particularly suitable for children either . Women's lib hasn't really hit South American TV yet.

I have some friends that have no interest in Strictly, but def would watch if ours looked more like this Argentinian show.

I have no problem with the format. But call it something else, and put it on after 10pm. Great.

I wonder if Maggie got so emotional at the end of the second clip because she'd actually had the opportunity to try dancing on telly, rather than stripping on telly.

As for Cynthia in the final clip, I think the article summed it up when it said "Known as the 'dental floss girl (because of her miniscule g-strings)".

No heated debates about how much dance training she'd had before she was invited to demonstrate her talents on national TV...

If only Vanessa & James had been able to choreograph something like that, they might still be in the competition.

EDIT- I see somebody has already made this point. D'oh!
