The pilot definitely deserved that round of applause.... Never known a landing like it.... In his words it wasn't pretty, but we made it lol

Well at least he was feeling good enough to add the "lol" at the end.

I will be glad when Xf is over - I'm not watching it, but my twitter timeline is full of the usual crap.

It'll be fun to see him on something like this! I've not seen a lot of The Voice, at what stage are the guest mentors/advisers involved?
Battle rounds for sure, I've never really watched but I have a feeling they may be involved at another point in the show too
was just taking a look at the @RTETheVoice twitter feed and they're filming the battle rounds tomorrow and Monday

never seen the show myself, so don't really have a clue how it all works!

I bet he was scared really. I'm not scared of flying, but the idea of a bad landing is awful.

I have watched The Voice UK - I really prefer it to XF from the blind auditions up until the live shows. But even though they have great singers, there is something missing in the live shows that just stops it getting as exciting as XF did in its heyday (cough 2010 cough)!!

That would explain how Matt seems to have had a day out shopping in Dublin - lots of tweets from people who have bumped into him. He normally travels to things on the day, but maybe missing the flight to Ayr has made him think he shouldn't always do Lastminute.com.

I have just read the Daily Mail which had an article on Sam Bailey. Speachless, with regards her comment regarding singers with one kidney who go on the X Factor and how they cannot hold their own against pub karaoke singers. Perhaps I am a tad sensitive, or is this just another way for X Factor to have yet another dig at Matt? So glad I stopped watching the programme.

Sorry, it has just been pointed out to me on the MF that it was Sharon Osbourne that mentioned the 'one kidney' singers. Three years later and still X Factor, for whatever reason, continue to take cheap shots at the 2010 winner. So glad I stopped watching the programme.

Erm...excuse me? What was said exactly?

eta: Just read this, has anyone else ever had one kidney on this show? She's making it sound like there's been dozens.

I think you may have mis-read slightly. Here is the quote:

Sharon, 61, who is set to leave the show after tonight’s final, said: ‘It’s got to do with the perception of what people think a pop star should look like.

'People are very narrow-minded, they’re blinkered. If you’ve got a load of young producers in there, they just look for t**s and a**e and someone with one kidney. I always say when contestants come in, “Do you have both kidneys? Dialysis?”

‘I can understand producers thinking there’s a great backstory behind this person, but not everybody that sings needs one kidney. It’s nice to have two.’

(full article: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...#ixzz2nUnuOJCu)

She's saying that the producers favour people with some sort of perceived affliction (missing a kidney as an example) over others who may be equally good otherwise. I doubt that she knows specifically that Matt only has one, so it probably wasn't a dig at him personally.

PS For some reason, I know that Liam Payne is another one-kidney-er...

@Mackydread: @Matthew_Wright @matt_cardle_uk he's a good fella. Had a few beers with him. The girls are all over him so you'll have a good time!

I had to smile at this tweet - how Matt suffers for his art!!

Glad you cleared that up - I think that you are right and she probably isn't aware - the show never once mentioned Matt's cancer battle, so it could hardly apply to him. And yes, as the mother of the "future Mrs Liam Payne" I know that Liam only had one working kidney. He was ill as a child and it stopped working, but he never had it removed, as it wasn't doing any harm either. Apparently in the last year or so, he has had tests and it is working again.

Looking forward to seeing @matt_cardle_uk in the New Year for a beer or two!

Matt really does make friends wherever he goes.

Oh, I see - thanks, Liam Payne's future mum-in-law!

...and very true about it never having been mentioned on the show. Essentially, I think Mrs O was being a tad facetious at the end there

I apologise, just very sensitive with regards X Factor and Matt. Do not know why? For some reason Sharon Osbourne, to me, comes across either as Ma Arthur or a female clone of the 2012 winner. Not her biggest fan. Does anybody know when RTE are transmitting the Voice?

I think it airs on a Sunday and last year it premiered on Jan 6, so probably the 5th. Matt might not show up for a few episodes, though...

A lot of RTE shows are streamed live on their website, so I imagine that will be an option

Great,shall look out for that.
I enjoyed watching UK's The Voice, but by the second series got a bit bored with it.I'm sure having Matt on will capture my interest again
