Quite, they prob thought it was the best choice at the time but when the full story was known, ummmm - politics at play I do like the mtv version though, stripped back away from all the production”

Thanks for the link. Nice cheery little interview. Was surprised to hear a bit of Hit My Heart on Eastenders tonight.

It feels like a long time ago now, doesn't it?

Nice to see Matt make an appearance on here! http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/fe...oSkxaiXYtPLkcS

Lovely video. Recorded a while back, but for many of us who weren't on the trip, it is fresh and that is always welcome in these times of little news.

The only male winner to make it in their top ten, which is quite an achievement given how little support they have been given compared to the runners up and female winners. But better still that it is one of Matt's self-produced albums, released on his own label.

Yes, I expected it to be Letters but I was pleasantly surprised! The write up is really good too.

Rather surprised that this YT video has racked up so many views in 6 months!

It is good. And this from the comments section sums up how I feel:

"As you said in the article, Matt Cardle broke away from Sony/Syco after his first album. His next 2 albums were made as an Indie artist and their placing on the charts just shows the strength of his talent. It really needs to be understood by everyone that the other 9 albums on this list were produced, marketed and pushed by the big machine. And all the mainstream radio play these other 9 albums received was huge. Matt Cardle had none of that. As an Indie artist you're on your own. And for him to still achieve what he has on his own is, I'll say again, a huge testament to his sheer musical genius and his unwavering fan support. Congrats to the other 9 albums but Matt's should be higher on the list, especially if you are going by real talent and not just big marketing budgets."

Did anyone else realise there is a poll at the bottom of the page to vote your favourite from the top 10? I didn't until I saw someone on Twitter mention it. So, if you haven't already, why not click on your favourite album.

Hi Crabbie. Good points with regards Porcelain being an Indie Album. What happened to Boy Arthur not making the list? I thought the album he released in 2013 was on a par to what 'Thriller' achieved in the Eighties, Ha-ha and should clip my claws.

Thanks for posting the link. Nice to go back in time, even though I no longer watch X Factor (mainly owing to the lunacy and media manipulation of 2010).

I used to live in Barrow. Charity Dingle turned on the Xmas lights when I was living there. Time to pop back and say hello. Nice interview.

Matt's been watching the XF tonight, the first time in a few years. He seems to like Jay, Fleur and Andrea if his tweets are anything to go by.

Interesting article here, not about Matt, but goes a long way to explaining all those private gigs he has done these past few years.

A very interesting read, thanks. Those playlistings on Radio 2 would've been a good source of income too then, especially since he writes and is his own record company.

Just noticed he's taken down his tweet about Deal Or No Deal with the picture. I wonder if he was asked to?

He also took down the broken wishknot and the pig picture - no idea why though, as they are still on FB, Maybe someone being over zealous about his twitter page, but not realising they were copied to FB.

Yes the higher percentages for being the writer and label owner would have helped. I was more interested in the fact that private gigs are deemed to be such an important part of an artist's income stream these days. He doesn't (to our knowledge) appear to have done many this year though.

Thanks for this. It's really interesting. The music industry is such a minefield
Before I started following all things Matt, I would just buy a CD and not give a thought to where the money goes. I probably thought these private gigs were just a bit of extra pocket money for them. Obviously not !

Just bumping the thread really with Matt's latest tweet:

matt cardle ‏@mattcardle
Well last night was pretty damn weird after 2 whole cheese boards.... #inception x

And he was spotted in Rickmansworth today, where he gets his tattoos done...........

Doesn't seem to be much other news atm although we know he must still be beavering away in the studio, due to his tiff with Protools earlier in the week:

matt cardle ‏@mattcardle
Since when did my Protools get all passive aggressive on me.... Instead of talking about the problem, just walks away from it and quits.

I do like his tweets - they're so random and funny.

Two whole cheeseboards, how does he stay so skinny?!

Exercise most probably - that skateboard has its uses, and he did say he has been going to the gym a lot.

Oh I thought he said he hadn't been going to the gym.

A few months ago, I think he did say he hadn't - but in the radio interview about the Barrow and Lancaster light switch-ons, he said he had. Which is quite good news really, as he usually makes an extra effort when he has things like videos or photo shoots coming up.
