So that mysterious gig in Manchester on May 20 is a fundraiser for Cancer Research - tickets go on sale Friday https://www.facebook.com/events/7514...egular&fref=nf

It also mentions in passing that the album is now due out in the autumn - hopefully that means a couple of singles in the run-up!

Literally cannot wait to get Album 4 out.... It's been a year in the making so far and now I'm starting to get the nearly there itch Xx

How exciting is this ? ”

Very! Although autumn still feels a long way away! I'm excited about this gig, don't know whether to go for VIP or not.

Do you think this is like a proper gig ie Matt being on stage for 70 - 90 mins or will there be a few other performers performing.
I hope it's just Matt.
I'm really hoping to go to this one, have sorted childcare out, just need to persuade somebody to travel down with me

Would so love to do VIP, but after paying for tickets, train tickets & hotel not many pennies left. Maybe on the next tour, hopefully.

I think just him with maybe a support act, it's a bit misleading if it's not!

It sounds like it's just Matt, just thinking with it being a charity gig they usually have a few acts on. It's a long way to travel if it's just for 30 mins or so, would rather wait for a tour and do a few gigs.

Wish I was rich

Yay I think I can go!
VIP is way too expensive for me though

If there are other acts, it usually would say something like "with special guests". As it is being promoted as "intimate & live" then I would say that it is just him.

He seems all over the place about the album release date. The tweet this morning made it sound like the album was almost finished, and a comment from James Ingham's column a few months back suggested March/April. However, the promotion of LY was pretty full on for most of the summer of 2013, so if there is a couple of singles leading to the album release, then it could all start kicking off by June.

In some ways, if he finishes the album quite soon, but releases later, then it should give him a bit of a break to recharge the batteries before the campaign starts, And it allows a lot more time to plan a really good, well organised campaign. The last two have seemed quite frantic at times, and then fizzled out within a couple of weeks of the album release - and Matt seemed pretty burnt out by that point.

Some more gig news but as per usual I'm still not sure I can go . It reads like it's just Matt, perhaps with a support act or two and for such a good charity. The VIP looks comparable with others price wise for a similar package - a nice treat if you can run to it. I'm going to make further enquiries about the venue, parking, location, room layout, etc

It will be interesting to see how this album launch compares to the others, it's difficult being a one man band as such, you take all the load. It's important to get the word out there but can image it must be pretty exhausting (& repetitive).

Tickets can be bought online, you can reserve your own seat. Set up an account but note, the system is not compatible with iPads (it won't recognise your password). Parking in multi storey, situated in the same complex opposite the venue, 2 mins walk - you can purchase an advance parking ticket when booking the gig (looks like at a slight reduction in fee £5 ). The Lowry has several rooms - I've been verbally informed that the gig will be held in Quays Theatre.

Thanks Pie, that's the one he played in before isn't it?

I believe so, good acoustics I'm told during the unplugged tour I think ?

Ps. In order to get the info I had to ring up, it took a while to get through to a person. Quickest route would be to book on line I would think via a computer to be sure of compatibility with the site software. They takes cards, but not Amex, possible handling fee applicable too (also fee for booking via the telephone - I think)

Good luck to anyone who is getting tickets this morning - and hoping for something a bit further south next time he does a "live and intimate" gig!

Looks like he has been to Ireland for a few days - I wonder if it was a short break, or he was writing with someone.

Hi all. Congrats to all who got VIP or tickets to the Manchester gig. I'd love to go but can't see how I can be back in Southampton by 8:30 the next morning short of driving through the night. I've even thought of seeing if there's an early morning flight to Soton. Hopefully there'll be more gigs later in the year.
