The best mince pies!
Who do you think does the best mince pies? I personally don't like the ones that taste of booze so i have to discount all those.
My top 3: 1. Sainsburys baked in store shortcrust. Crunchy pastry and nice filling. 2. Greggs shortcrust - more filling and less sweet than sainos, but pasty isn;'t quite as nice 3. Waitrose Spiced Shortcrust - bit different and very nice heated up. |

I haven't really tried many. I tend to stick with Tesco Finest as they are yummy. I bought some M&S ones the other day and I wasn't overly keen.

The only mince pies I like are the ones from Morrisons 6 pack £1.49...2 packs for £2. They are delicious.

My favourites are the puff pastry ones you can get from the tesco bakery. I find them less sickly than short crust ones.

Aldi specially selected are lovely, Asda did some a few years ago which had brandy butter on top rather than a pastry top and they were gorgeous but I havent seen them for a couple of years now.

these! I love them, not particularly for the brandy. I hate alcohol taste added to food. However its the pastry with these I find are awesome.

We normally make them at home, however the other day, I had a surprisingly delicious mince pie, from Starbucks of all places!! However Konditor and cook's are the best shop made pies I've had.

Greggs use to be the best by a long way but I'm sure they changed the recipe some years ago as they are no longer any where near what they were.
If I recall from last Christmas Tesco Finest were very nice. |

I've always been disappointed with shop bought ones, and very rarely eat them. I'd never ever buy mince pies, and only eat shop bought if I'm offered them at someone's house. I was brought up with my mum's recipe, which was too good! I make them every year now, and always get lots of compliments. I add lemon zest, ground almonds and icing sugar to my pastry, and flaked almonds and fresh cranberries to the mincemeat.
