Eloborate cake decorating: storage tips?
One of my family has a special occasion coming up and I'd like to make quite an elaborate cake for it. I'd quite like to do a carrot cake as that's their favourite, but I'm concerned about timescales.
I will have to make the cake the weekend before the event to give me time to decorate, but will an iced, uncut carrot cake keep for a week or should I play it safe and make a fruit cake? |

Thanks for that - I've bookmarked the site too as it seems quite handy. I must admit I'd already seen a guide that reckoned a week, but I'm still concerned that it will be at it's best (after all just because it keeps, doesn't mean it won't have lost a bit of flavour/dried out).
I think I might be safest to just start the decorations the week before and try and get the cake done closer to the event. |
