Android Updates Basic Question
Hi all
I've found a brand new Galaxy S3 at a price that's sensational . I realise this is last years phone , and it runs 4.0 ICS according to the blurb . How would I go about updating the software to a later version of Android ( Jelly Bean 4.1 or .2 ) ? Its unlocked and UK version . Would it even be eligible for updates ? Thanks

The S3 is currently receiving Android 4.3, but there are lots of reported issues. If it's a new phone, it's likely to ship with 4.2 at this point. For some reason, they always advertise it at the version that it had on it when it launched.
If it's unbranded, it should receive the updates as soon as Samsung release them - including 4.4 at some point according to reports. If it's a network branded handset (can still be unlocked, but branded), then it's down to the network to release the newer version - although I believe most are in the process of rolling out 4.3 too. |

My S3 never had 4.2, it went straight from 4.1.2 to 4.3.
4.3 is quite a bit different, and mine got a very annoying notification bug which I've only just worked out how to fix. |
