Cyanogenmod installer now available
Just thought I'd post this for the Android users out there.
Modding your phone is a lot easier now thanks to this app, I've done my S3 over the weekend and I'm very pleased at how straightforward it was. I now have vanilla android 4.3.1 running and have no more Samsung or Vodafone bloatware, it's quite nice actually ![]() No downsides so far. For those that are interested be aware that this will void your warranty and will completely wipe your phone so back everything up! You can get it here. |

Does it auto-root your phone as well then or do you have to do that first ?

Can't see it lasting long, Google will see rooting devices as a security risk and the app will be removed given time.

Wouldn't be so sure about that. It seems as though Google have approved it.

It must do I would assume, it doesn't say the device has to be rooted on the description.

The app does not root your phone. Apps like that are against the Google Play terms. A windows descktop app does all the heavy lifting so there nothing "bad" about the PS app.
I you want Cyanogen Mod on your device this is a great way to get it. Cyanogen mod is not "pure Android" though. It contains many extras and customisations. The question about the Note losing the SPen functionality: I ran CM9 on my original Galaxy Note. Of course all the Samsung apps were gone (whoop) and the button on the SPen did not fully function but the basic functionality of the SPen was there. I used Papyrus to take notes anyway as it was better than SNote & SMemo. Now Samsung have increased the functionality of the SPen in the Note 3. If you are heavily into that then CM is probably not the right thing to install. If you hardly bother with it (as was my case) then go for it. |

If the CM installer lets you back up your current setup and go back then I would say have a look at it. But really you paid extra to get all of the Samsung stuff like multi window. If you crave a more “stock” experience then install Nova Launcher, the Goole keyboard etc. That way you wont lose anything useful. |
