Your favourite Christmas albums?
It might be a bit early to be asking about Christmas music but I'm in need of some reccomendations. I love the more traditional stuff by people like Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, etc, but I also love Mariah and Whitney's Christmas albums.
What should I try out this year? What albums are your favourites? |

I used to love Christina's when I was younger. Mariah's are my favourite. I found Whitney's a bit bland.

I think the She & Him Christmas album is one of my favourites, I just really love Zooey's voice and I like the fact that they gave it some space on the album and didn't overload the album with too much production. The Bright Eyes Christmas album is another one I love for the same reason, just simplicity.

The best Christmas album of all time is 'A Christmas Gift for You' from Phil Spector. I still have it on vinyl. The Red Album.
It was released on November 22nd 1963...something else rather momentous also happened on that day! |

My old Now That's What I Call Christmas compilation from 1985, which I still have on tape and play every festive season
It's only two-sided but there aren't any songs on there I want to fast forward through - I'm even able to put aside my chagrin at the preachiness of Band Aid and War Is Over for the sake of the album overall. And it's pretty much the only Christmas album I'll have these days that's got Gary Glitter's Rock N Roll Christmas on it, which I love

The Carpenters 'Christmas Portrait' album is fabulous. Lush arrangements and Karen's smokey/sultry voice - heaven personified!

The only one I own is the Tori Amos one Midwinter Graces (with the astonishingly crap cover!) - have only played it once or twice. Might dig it out again this year...
But generally not really a fan of Christmas albums |

Both from Mariah Carey Elvis, Michael Buble, Christina Aguilera.
Looking forward to Leona's 'Christmas with Love' and the EP coming from Kate Nash too. |

This is the one I grew up with.
http://c3.cduniverse.ws/resized/250x...21/1086021.jpg and I still listen to it at Christmas time now. For me it is the definitive Christmas album. |

I would really recommend Tamar Braxton's "Winter Loverland". It's a great R&B influenced Christmas album and her vocals are incredible on it. Very festive.
I'm sure Leona Lewis' "Christmas, With Love" will be a cracker of a Christmas album as well.
