Local TV transmitting from Belmont & is getting out beyond intended coverage area
JonCollett

Hello, it seems that the local MUXes have been fired up on the Belmont transmitter. I am currently receiving 3 test transmissions (including Estuary TV). I have to say that I am quite surprised to be receiving anything at all! Given that the intended transmission area of the local MuX is supposed to be to the north east of Lincolnshire, to cover Grimsby and Hull and I live on a south east bearing from the transmitter.

Is anyone else out there receiving anything outside of the intended coverage area?

Presumably a great many people, as has always been so - the 'intended' coverage area is simply a 'guaranteed' high signal strength, the signals themselves carry on for miles and miles, just getting weaker with distance (inverse square law) until they are blocked totally by hills.

Is that Estuary TV broadcasting on Ch 8, there but not broadcasting, or a placeholder near the bottom of the EPG, or something else?
What are the other two test channels showing?

One is showing a black screen with "Test Transmission" with one white dot on it, the second is showing "Test Transmission" with two white dots on it and the third is showing a colour picture with "Estuary TV launching on November 26th" on it. All 3 are broadcasting a sound test signal. The UHF channel is 27 And it has slotted these into the EPG at numbers 791 792 and 793 respectively. The EPG Local TV Test 1/2/3.

I don't think CH27 will badly affect the DX around here (which I am very glad about).

I'm getting a 50% signal strength and no signal quality on UHF ch 27. I'm assuming it might be the transmission you refer to. But without any signal quality I can't be sure.

I'm in Louth. I'm getting 50% Signal Quality and 10% Signal Strength on all three channels.

793 is showing "Estuary TV - Launching on 26th November" with a 1kHz test tone.

Well, if you are in Nottingham, then Mux 1 from the Nottingham relay is at the very least going to mangle up reception for you ?

I'm in a dead spot from the Nottingham relay AND the polarisation is different. Couldn't really care less. Just responding to the OP's question.
