Imagine if EastEnders met Corrie....

To celebrate 20 years of Walford & 45 years of Weatherfield, wouldn't it be excellent & a treat for viewers if for one week only, EastEnders & Corrie interacted. Of course it would never happen & would be too hard to film with schedules n that, but if it could

For example, it could be a darts/football match, and the Vic happen to be playing at home to a Manchester team called the Rovers Return - Mike Baldwin could know a few characters already, Sarah Lou could get off with one of the EE lads (she's already been through most of the Corrie ones at how old...17? tart) and generally if scripted carefully it could be a laugh!

I remember back in 1995 in a special recorded message to EastEnders celebrating 10 years, Bet Lynch recieved a letter, all in cockney, from the Vic, about a football match, she had to get Mike to read it as they couldn't understand the lingo - it ended with the Corrie cast wishing the EE cast a happy Birthday

That would be pretty cool, it might help eastenders boost its viewers

EastEnders viewers have been given a boost in last couple of weeks, theres not a lot between Enders and Corrie ratings wise at the moment.

I think it would be fantastic to see Corrie meet Enders. Its impossible now due to both soaps hectic filming schedules, they'd never get enough time for enough of the cast to film.

Would love to see a punchup in the Rovers between the EastEnd supporters and Weatherfield regulars.

Also very unlikely to happen as Eastenders is on BBC and Coronation Street is on ITV. Both channels would have to therefor show it at the same time, which usually means the BBC wins. Then you'd have problems with ITV showing commerical. I Guess a Coronation Street/Emmerdale might work as they are both ITV shows.

Yeh true, a simultaneous broadcast would be needed, like what the Beeb and Channel 4 did for Celebrity Big Brother back in 2001 for Comic Relief.

Which I'm sure ITV wouldn't go for as they are usually the losers.

I think this Idea was actually thought about seriously for a comic relif special. If I remember rightly after Children in need did a 3-D cross over with Doctor Who and Eastenders, the BBC wanted the cast of Corrie to film a 2 x 10 min Episode in Albert Square. There shouldnt have been or even in future should 't be too much of a problem as ITV are very willing to let the stars of Corrie appear on Children in need or Comic Relif and in the past ITV have even paid for and filmed the segments themself. The Idea was that that (in a totally seperate plot to what was being shown on ITV) A coach load of regulars from The Rovers Returns go down on a trip to London and the Thames Barrier (again not sure) but get lost then there bus breaks down (guess where? Walford yea) Anyway while the coach gets fixed the regulars of the UK's top two soaps interact and if I remember rightly, one of the Barmaids from the Rovers (Bet or Raquel - i think it was) would help out in the Vic as it got very busy! LOL

Shame it never happened but i think it could for charity! And guarentted the stars of BOTH soaps would be VERY up for it!

Corrie would never lower itself.
beside who would have the rights to screen it ?
BBC or ITV ?

it would only work as a 10minute charity episode for CID or CR

Have any characters from EE ever gone to Corrie or vice versa (except Jill Halfpenny)

It could be shared equally, episode one on BBC, and the second part on ITV - and knowing ITV they would do 15 hours of extra bits/interviews & behind the scenes stuff on ITV 2 & 3

I would LOVE to have seen Bet Lynch & Sharon Watts working alongside each other behind the Vic bar!!! And Alma & Kathy in the Cafe! Such a shame that never happened!

I think it would be good - For one Episode you could have various veiws of Walford with a cat etc and the Coronation Street music and for the second part could be ala Eastenders but of Manchester with the Eastenders Music.

Would be cool
