Love this vt, if the half of it comes true, this'll be a very happy little thread. Note the veiled XF references re: regretting letting her go.

Watched a bit of that, hmm... I don't believe in that stuff. Don't like them, one told my OH stuff that could have messed up our relationship, stuff about her having a secret admirer and a child and things.

Don't like mediums

I wouldn't go to one myself, but I've heard stuff from people close to me that went to one and were told stuff that was impossible to know. I am more sceptical than convinced about these things, that's why I said if the half of it were true I'd be happy.

Thats alright, your system is still valid based on the first two predictions. It seems that tonights result suggests that there is a parameter that effects the result that is not covered by just the social media metric. My guess is that whatever that parameter is (and my guess is performance, she may have got a last minute boost because of it) very reactive and unpredictable. I would also say looking at your numbers she would have made it by the skin of her teeth, definitely bottom half.

Maybe. I'm thinking its the power of rebound voting, performance maybe and possibly visibility depth. It was fighting today with the Niall thing and rate limited on the twitter api several times (which caused darkness for about an hour, maybe 2). Which was a bug, so a few things went wrong.

Well it got Hannah b2 1, Tamera and then Hannah b2 2 so that's 3/4 although the first wasn't published anywhere publically, just to people I know personally when I set out.

But immediately you get someone who will go "well its failed now" and that means its worthless trying to see.

Better luck next week I guess.

What surprises me most is that Hannah competed with such a low social engagement against two guys with buzz that made her look like an also ran. That is surprising.

What you say about performance is interesting as it updates them in sequence and a long process time can cause a delay in updating the next (as the API's are limited to x requests per 15 minute window on twitter). So maybe it was that, that she boosted during the result show and it didn't catch up, they can go up quickly. But that should even out latently.

There is another flaw that can't be addressed. Hannah has no identifiable Facebook account to act as a catalyst and the others do. Even if its a well used fan one, which means she isn't quite even but FB doesn't deliver the same % of information as twitter and YouTube do.

Have you turned off the Facebook parameter on the other accounts ( temporarily ), process these numbers against the full set metric for each contestant, if you average the delta, and calculate the %loss on numbers, and average this. Then you have a crude but maybe effective multiplier for Hannah's numbers...What u think?

I think Niall had an effect on Tamera's votes. I wouldn't be surprised if Harry Styles tweets her next week congratulating on her performance. In all honesty I do think the girl should be in the final three with Luke and Sam Bailey.

Hmm I could but not tonight.

But that is a fairly good idea, there is also whether Nic's mega boost just hindered Hannah's collection. Looking at the chart it looks flat lines (its posted in the thread).

The other issue is that they all gain different amounts from FB anyway.

But I can look.

16th / 17th... thats basically saying she got x buzz on sat and then went bleh on Sunday, clearly the bleh was wrong and looking at it in retrospect, I wonder if thats basically being cut off.

Are you saying its pulling data +24 hrs, and Sunday data is not being added real time or the program is not pulling Hannah's data for Sunday?

It pulls realtime, 24/7 what I mean is, it fetches data sequentially for each of them (well its more complicated than that but in simple terms; they are batched in groups sequentially in a queue - not a dev so that's my way of putting it).

It does that as there are rate limits on the twitter api and to ease the burden on the server. Plus its running on a test vps box.

I wonder if Hannah being next to Nic in the queue caused the cooldown timer to strike or caused Hannah's data channel to get bottlenecked. So not getting all of what it should or there is a backlog.

Could be that Abi's votes went to the other girls so they just avoided the bottom two

Maybe in combo with Sam C going out today who wants Tamera to win, Tamera's going to be better now. If Hannah goes next week too, I'm thinking Tamera's going to get a lot.

And when either Tamera/Rough Copy go because they are very similar in genre (R&B) I think the other's going to rocket ahead..

Interesting, you can test your theory about nic by moving hannah in the sequence. Really fascinating stuff. Theres a reason for hannah's numbers its just a matter of figuring out why?

There is always a reason. I'm not a developer so I might not be able to figure out why, I have some technical knowledge but I doubt I can figure it out on my own. I need to get my technical folk to look into the reasons why.

I have to agree with the blogs, they're more entertaining than the real show.
