Caught up with this week things to note:

Hugh only sees the world through his eyes doesn't like the extra warm greetings so assumes everyone would rather have a macho hand shake.

Jeanette and hubby seemed to be easily offended.

Hugh marking down because it wasn't a mug was pathetic I think he thinks he is in pole position and wants to ensure that he wins.

Today show they have suffered from all the others having good reviews and getting swallowed up in their own hype of thinking they will win, hence knocking down Ian place in the process.

Not sure who will win I think if everyone pays full amount Diane place might win, Hugh is favourite as I can't see him paying the full amount for anyone.

A canny lad with money........A true Scot

Do agree with you though that marking down because it was a cup rather than a mug was very nit-picky

I'm with Hugh on this one; I can't stand being kissed and hugged by strangers! I think it's better to err on the side of caution here, a handshake is unlikely to offend whereas a kiss may.

Today's breakfast was made unappetising for me by Elle's slovenly appearance. I know that might seem nit-picky to some, but she just looks dirty to me

Oh, and about those muffins - you're supposed to cut them in half, Elle!

You'd think Diane might have got the message about shower caps by now - 3 out of 4 B&Bs this week didn't provide them so the general consensus among owners is that they aren't necessary!

Get over it woman - if it's that important for you to have a shower cap - take your own with you!

Although I agreed with her that the eggs Benedict looked revolting - solid eggs and rock hard muffin - and that was supposedly cooked by a professional chef!

Jeanette comes across as very pretentious to me, I think she loves that Diane and Sandra are 'posh' and is trying to show that she is like them and not lumped in with the hoi polloi.

She needs to loosen up and live a bit!

Personally I think that refusing to take part in the crypt/vault or whatever it was outing was quite ridiculous tbh.

The cup/mug thing with Hugh was silly and petty, not worthy of losing marks imo, but I think he has the measure of Diane and Sandra, he see's that they are putting on airs and graces and it doesn't sit well with him.

The slippers are disposable that a lot of decent hotels provide, but they are in sealed bags, Ive got a pair in my cupboard. If the guests dont take them, & their unsealed they should be binned., not put out for other guests.

If you take your Christianity seriously (and I think given her comments re gay couples shows she does) then you don't go mucking about with lost souls.

Mind you it was one of the poorest "activities" I can remember - even the trip round mad cat womens' pet cemetery looked more entertaining to me! Mind you, I would love to know the scientific principle behind that Ghost Detector though .

I find myself not caring who wins this week. They're all unlikable in their own special way.

Hugh: acts like he's being molested by a friendly greeting, get over it

Shower-cap woman: go soak yer head

Victor Meldrew and wife: have some fun, fgs

Raccoon-lady and husband: I smell game-players

Me too. I really don't want virtual strangers hugging me warmly. Actually I'm not much of a touchy-feely person generally, but in this context it's worse because it's quite insincere. They're competitors, not best chums.

Elle wears far too much eye make-up - it looks hideous.

I thought it was very telling yesterday (re the mugs/cups thing) - she said she usually has mugs in the rooms but changed them for posh cups! I thought they were supposed to carry on as they usually do.

I just can't take to any of this week's contestants either. Nothing particularly horrible about them, but nothing especially likable either.

Yes, Eileen the mad cat woman. The trip around her own pets' cemetery has to be one of the dullest 'activities' ever on this show.

Seconded only by the infamous Mrs Tee and her mushroom-hunting expedition, and the mad Welsh farmer whose 'activity' consisted of getting his fellow contestants to built a dry-stone wall for him!

I wondered if eggs Benedict was on Ian and Elle's menu at the beginning of the week.

Jeanette strikes me as not a very worldly person. Diane and Sandra are very well-groomed but not posh. Jeanette seems to be far more middle-class than those two.
