That was Kath from the Fairfax Hotel

She was the lady whose partner cleared off halfway through the week and left her on her own - when she hosted on her night she announced at the dinner table she had 'belly ache' and left her guests on their own at the restaurant.

I agree, I regularly pick up a bag of coffee beans in my local Caffe Nero - they often have them in an alcove near the checkout

Have you noticed if they also have the ground version, please?

Adding to the discussion.
I use the silver stove top pot and think THIS LINK is quite a nice read.

I still haven't fathomed out what on earth someone would be thinking to consider getting the coffee machine out and then not bothering to do so and giving out mugs of instant
I'm also flabbergasted by the 'bacon is bacon' comment, but not expecting to see a separate Bacon Menu in tonight's show

Speaking of tonight's show according to the preview paragraph it could be the source of some debate later. Unless of course the preview's built it up and the reality is a bit of a damp squib. Wouldn't be the first time.

The spoiler for todays show did include a clip of a very opulent breakfast, and the mum/daughter pair accusing Jo of putting it on specially. Maybe a Bacon Menu does feature - along with a choice of coffee machines and extra special ramkins for the beans

Obviously buy a dark roast (which also has less caffeine) if you like a strong flavour. I'm drinking a yummy one now from Papua New Guinea, but here's what I usually buy:

I buy the beans and grind them fresh every morning - you can't beat it! ”

Not sure about grinding beans of a morning, sounds a bit laborious. Normally in the morning I just want it good and I want it fast, (I'm talking coffee here of course! ). But yes, I think a bit of experimentation's probably in order to find what suits best.

Too much info / too many options?

But whatever you use, the quality of the coffee is what matters.”

I like the look of a Moka pot a lot, never seen one of them before. Quite an attractive looking little thing to have in the kitchen and seems pretty easy to use. The article says, "put it on a heat source" so I'm assuming you could heat it via just placing it direct onto a gas hob, or would that ruin it?

Anyway, plenty to ponder! Thanks for the opinions everyone.

It only takes about 20 seconds or less to grind the coffee beans with a grinder. My grinder pours the ground coffee directly into the cafetiere.

I know what you mean though. You don't really want to be faffing about first thing in the morning just to make a cup of coffee.

My thoughts exactly.

I know we've seen similar before but today's is anything but what you'd imagine a B&B to be, I wonder how many staff she has.

It's not really a B&B. Her dining room looks like Butlins in the 70's..
