Surely in a B&B, the basic requirements are a bed and breakfast? If only a bed is provided with breakfast as optional, it's not a B&B. I don't care how remote a place was, I'd go and find somewhere else, or take my own with me, rather than spend £12.

They'd do better to include the £12 in the cost of the room, as having it as an additional extra will just wind people up. It'd certainly put me off if I was looking for a B&B and I'd choose to go elsewhere on that basis.

Wow that was cheap. Is that in the States? I can get scrambled eggs on toast, grilled tomato and coffee for £3.95 here. You can get a full fry up for about £4.50.

I'm all for a separate breakfast charge as I'm not usually that hungry first thing, rarely eat breakfast, so am not paying for something I don't really need. It would have to be pretty good for £12 though.

It still strikes me that not to have any TV in the farmhouse is a device to get guests out across the road and into the pub and that to charge £12 per person for a cooked breakfast is designed to get people out of the premises first thing in the morning.

To add £24 on to the room rate so it's a like for like comparison is quite a bit if the other factors are all pretty similar.

I agree with this, as I think making it extra is just asking for trouble. If it is part of a B&B deal then customers don't usually sit and work out how much each egg or sausage is costing, but having it as an extra charge does seem to encourage pettiness. I remember "poached egg couple", who winged constantly about having had to pay £6 for a poached egg, all because the B&B owner made an extra charged for any cooked breakfast item. They did not want a full english just poached egg on toast. The moaning about the cost of that egg went on all week. If though they had just paid a flat B&B rate it would not have occurred to them that they were paying over the top for their poached egg.

Will be interesting to see how much tonights rooms are, even if they were in the £50 or £60 region I would still be annoyed that breakfast was going to cost £24 for a couple.

That is way too much to charge for breakfast imo.

I think the TV issue is a good marketing ploy, even if you are back in your room at 8pm, you can relax put the box on, if theres no TV then what do you do, you do not want to go to bed, so you have a walk to the quaint pub by the river, and spend money for a couple of hours.

Another one here fed up with the scottish couple.

£12 for a breakfast in a B&B is a bit ridiculous imo

For a £65 per night room, that looked quite nice, just inc the £12 for brekkie and say the rooms £77. Silly people.

I would expect the bells and whistles for that price. Fresh herbs, various coffees and teas and a large choice of breads, cheeses etc.

I agree that they should combine the breakfast in with the room, for some reason £77 a room B&B sounds better than £65 room and £12 per person for breakfast, i think i would probably say no thank you and stay somewhere else, out of principle tbh

It would be justice if her place wins, I hope they carry on and include her B&B in tomorrows programme.

Not sure if they will count her place now as she wasn't able to judge the others. So her B&B will probably be removed from the competition.
